Kilsheelan man David Power managed Tipperary Minor Footballers to All Ireland glory with Club players Bill Maher, Adrian Mc Guire and Conor Davin Murphy also on the extended panel.

FOOTBALL: After many years we again attained Senior ranks. The team lost to Commercials by one point in the South Semi Final. In the County championship we were unlucky to come up against a star studded Moyle Rovers side.

The Junior team also reached the Semi Final before losing to Commercials. With better organisation we are well capable of taking this title.

The U/21 team never played up to expectation and lost their two matches.

The Minor team was strengthened by the addition of four players from Newcastle and played under Kilsheelan Gaels. They were well prepared and won their way to the Final but were beaten by Commercials who later easily won the County title.

TEAM: John Smyth, David Corcoran, Eoin Kehoe, James Fitzpatrick, Kevin Larkin, Adrian Mc Guire, Dean Mulcahy, Bill Maher 1-0, John Kehoe, Finbar Horgan, Diarmuid Devanney 0-1, Tommy Sweeney, Colin Gleeson 0-1, Conor Davin Murphy 1-2, Brian Hyland 0-3.

SUBS: Kevin Guiry and Paul Maher 0-1.

HURLING: The Junior team won their six matches to reach the Final where they defeated St Patricks.

TEAM: Ian Coughlan, William Larkin, Jimmy Ryan, Johnny Cahill, Conor Davin Murphy, Willie Ryan, Donnacha Lonergan, Eoin Ryan, Senan O’Halloran, Naoise O’Cuinneagain, Tommy Ryan 0-1, Pakie Larkin, John Kehoe 0-6, Adrian Walsh 1-1 and John Roche 0-2.

SUBS: Shane Prendergast for Johnny Cahill, Fintan O’Shea 0-1 for Eoin Ryan, Bill Maher 0-3 for Donnacha Lonergan, Noel Ryan for Senan O’Halloran and Niall Cloona for Naoise O’Cuinneagain.

U/21: This team fought back from ten points down to defeat Clonmel Og but lost to Skeheenarinky in the next round.

MINOR: With assistance from Newcastle, we reached the Final against Mullinahone. Having beaten them in an earlier round, Mullinahone were fully intent on revenge and we were no match for the eventual County champions.

The juveniles had teams in all grades.

The U/16 Hurling team won the South Final in Cloneen with a well deserved victory by 2-12 to 1-6 over Ballingarry.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Shane Brunnock, Kevin Guiry, Daire Brennan, Sean Ryan, Paul Maher, Kevin Kehoe, Eoin Kehoe (Capt) 0-6, Brendan Martin, Kevin Kirwan 1-2, Joe O’Neill, David Smyth 0-2, Paudie O’Donovan 0-1, John Smyth 1-1 and Riain Connolly.

They were then victorious over Knockavilla Kickhams in the County Semi Final to earn a final spot against Kildangan which was played in Templetuohy

Kildangan emerged winners in a rip roaring contest. For Kilsheelan it was heartbreak to lose by the narrowest of margins. While defeat was their lot in the end we must give great credit to the team and management for their efforts throughout the campaign. To the players we say thanks for the great entertainment they gave us all year.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Shane Brunnock, Kevin Guiry, Daire Brennan, Sean Ryan, Paul Maher, Kevin Kehoe, Eoin Kehoe 0-5, Brendan Martin 0-1, Kevin Kirwan 0-2, Joe O’Neill, David Smyth, Paudie O’Donovan, John Smyth and Rian Connolly.

Tipperary’s victory in the Minor Football All Ireland was a fantastic occasion for our Club. We congratulate Manager David Power, players Bill Maher and Adrian Mc Guire and Conor Davin Murphy who was on the extended panel.
