We wish the best of luck to the U/16 hurlers as they go in search of County honours next Saturday when they face Portroe – venue and time not confirmed as we go to press. We appeal for your support on County Final day to encourage our young players.
The U/12s took on Ballybacon Grange in the South Hurling Final. They were victorious on a scoreline of 5-4 to 2-2, but in a way, the scoreline did not reflect the huge effort and amount of work put in by both teams. Kilsheelan just had that bit more, and were well worth their win, with several players deserving “man of the match” accolades, covering every blade of grass and fighting for every single ball.
PANEL: John Carroll, Jack O’Loughlin, Lee Ryan, Adam Quigley, Billy O’Connor 0-1, Cathal Kelly, Jason Madigan 0-1, Barry Kehoe 1-1, Sean Freaney 2-1, Ben O’Connell 1-0, Jack O’Gorman 1-0, Daire Murphy, Sean Allison and Thomas Morrissey.
A special mention for Billy Murphy, a regular starter, who was unable to play due to illness on the day.
In Cumann na mBunscoil football Kilcash N.S. are through to the South Final following their latest victory over Cloneen.
Kilsheelan N.S. advanced to the Semi Final in their Division following their victory over Ardfinnan.
Kilcash NS also have a team in this year’s ladies football competition. In their first outing they beat teams from Burncourt and Newcastle and are through to the Semi Final. The panel includes: Niamh Martin, Anna Walsh, Aoife Ryan, Amy Dempsey, Freya Harvey, Amy O’Shea, Gwen Flatley and Maya D’Arcy.
The U/12 Division 4 team played in the inaugural Craig Walsh Memorial hurling tournament in Carrick. Unfortunately they did not make the Final, but still the entire team got medals.
