With so much sport on the television, anyone who ventured out to watch the real thing live was thoroughly entertained this weekend.
On Thursday our U12A team travelled to Mullinahone, having drawn with Cahir in their opening match. A win would kick start their efforts in the A grade, and they duly obliged. Mullinahone were well beaten in all areas of the field and Kilsheelan had an easy win. In fairness to Mullinahone, they never gave up on their task, but withdrew from the A grade after this match. Kilsheelan's lads had little time to rest, and played Carrick Swan in Kilsheelan on Sunday morning. Kilsheelan seemed a little sleepy at the start, and Carrick took an early lead. Kilsheelan tried hard but found scores difficult to come by. Carrick held a 3 point lead at the break. Kilsheelan upped their game in the second half, and battled hard. However, every time they closed the gap, Swan were able to stretch it out again. Swan won out in the end by 2 points, Kilsheelan 1-7, Carrick Swan 3-3. Next up in the A, Kilsheelan play Killenaule on Tuesday evening, 7pm in Killenaule. The D team are back in action next Sunday (3rd) against Clonmel Og in Kilsheelan at 11.30am.
Our U14s have their first outing in the B hurling on Thursday at 7pm against the combination of Clonmel Og/Clerihan in Kilsheelan.
Pride of place from the weekend though has to go to Sliabh na mBan U12 ladies football team – not only did they win their county final on Friday evening, they did it by scoring 5-7 and keeping their opponents Mullinahone scoreless! Well done to the girls from Kilsheelan, Kilcash and Grangemockler, as well as their management team.
