U14 Semi Final Kilsheelan/Kilcash 3-7 Grangemockler/Ballyneale 2-5 It was with a complete team performance that the Kilsheelan/Kilcash Under 14 Football team overcame Grangemockler/Ballyneale to reach the South Final in Monroe last Sunday evening. Every player that took to the field played an important role in overcoming a formidable and much more fancied Grangemockler side. The opening exchanges went Grangemockler’s way with a series of 3 unreplied points. Kilsheelan didn’t really settle into the game until Ben O’Connell scored their first goal in the twelfth minute. Goalie Jamie Cronin kept the game alive with two fantastic saves half way through the first half which finished with both sides level 1-2 to 5 points. Kilsheelan came out in the second half a different team and soon took control of the game with a goal from Ben Smyth and points from Jack O’Donoghue and Ben O’Connell. This was a lead they never gave up despite a period of sustained pressure in the last ten minutes from a gallant Grangemockler/Ballyneale side The second half finished with a goal from Charles Shanahan and more well taken points from captain Ben O’Connell. This win was remarkable in that no player really stood out as dominant but it was with a series of brave tackles, well taken scores, relentless workrate, impossible interceptions, well timed blocks, intelligent support running, fantastic goal line saves, sheer determination and a will to win from all players that got this team to the South Final. Well done to all.
