Juvenile Update 17th May 2016

As our U12s continue preparations for their A County Semi final on Wednesday, our U14s and U16s were in action in their respective championships.

The 14s had a great win against Moyle Rovers in Kilsheelan last Thursday. This win secured 2nd place in their group and puts them into a semi final against neighbours Grangemockler/Ballyneale – date and venue TBC.

Our U16s received a walkover from Commercials last Friday – Commercials were already qualified in 2nd place and their field was unavailable for the match. This "result" meant that Kilsheelan, Swan and Clonmel Óg/Clerihan were tied for 4th place, leading to a 3-way playoff. Kilsheelan met Swan in Monroe on Monday evening. When these sides met early in the championship, Swan edged a close encounter by a single point. In what was a hot-tempered playoff, defences were on top, which lead to an entertaining but low-scoring game. The sides were level at half time, but Kilsheelan rattled off 4 unanswered points during a 2nd half  purple patch. Swan pressed hard for a goal, but had to be content with a pointed free. Cathal Kelly knocked over a point (his 3rd of the match) to secure a 2-point win for Kilsheelan, 0-10 to 1-5. They now play Clonmel Óg/Clerihan in the next playoff on Thursday, venue to be confirmed.
