The Kilsheelan/Kilcash Under 14 footballers reached the semi final of the Peil football competition. This was played in Kilsheelan on Sunday April 17th in a very closely contested and tense match. The opening quarter was scoreless. Then Moyle Rovers went into a four point lead with a goal and a point. Kilsheelan replied before half time with points from Ben O’Connell and Emmet Butler. Both teams were very evenly matched. Moyle Rovers started the second half with another goal and a point. Kilsheelan settled back into the match with points from Jack O’Donohue and Jake fFrench Davis. The remainder of the second half was extraordinary. Conor Neville moved from full back to midfield and the game was played out in front of the Moyle Rovers goal. Three more points went over from Ben O’Connell, Charles Shanahan and Ben Smyth. Try as they might despite chances saved, chances going wide and chances hitting off the post Kilsheelan /Kilcash could not get the telling score to win the match and went down by the narrowest of margins.
