A busy weekend saw 3 of our juvenile teams in action. First up were our u12s, hosting Cahir in our first match in the A football division. A hugely entertaining game saw momentum swing back and forth. Some great scores were created on both sides, and both had agonizing misses too. A draw at 2-5 each seemed a fair outcome – a great result for a young Kilsheelan team against a very strong Cahir team who already had a game under their belts.

Next up was our other U12 team, this time hosting Ballyporeen. Although our young lads (many of them U10) put in a massive effort and have shown huge improvements, they came up against a very determined and skillful Ballyporeen side. One must question the grading system at this age level – as mentioned, Kilsheelan fielded a very young team, with many of their older players involved in the A grade, while Ballyporeen's only team, containing their older players, is in the same C grade. However, we mustn't grumble, and instead admire the skill on show from our own lads – this experience will stand to them in tests to come.

Finally our U16 team made their entrance to the U16A football championship. They faced a highly fancied Moyle Rovers team in Monroe on Saturday afternoon. These sides met in the final of the U14A football championship 2 years ago, a match which Rovers won convincingly. It was a similar affair today, with the much bigger, faster and stronger Moyle Rovers team dominating the scoreline. However that scoreline does not necessarily reflect the effort and performance from Kilsheelan – a resilient defence kept their opponents at bay for large periods until the floodwaters broke in the second half. That said, our lads never gave up and manufactured some excellent scores.

Finally, well done to our representatives who travelled to the Scór na bPáistí county final in Cashel on Saturday.
