Following Tipperary’s victory in the All Ireland Minor Football Final the team led by Manager David Power, together with Adrian Mc Guire, Bill Maher and Conor Davin Murphy returned to a rapturous reception on Tuesday night in Kilsheelan. Speakers included Michael Power, Sean Nugent and Noel Morris and they gave glowing accounts of our returned heroes. MC for the evening was Paddy Finnucane. In hurling or football there is nothing better to stir the emotions of a County or Parish than a successful team. This was best exemplified by the large crowd, particularly the children, who came out in great numbers decked in the Blue and Gold. In the week preceding the Final there were whispers of a homecoming but it had to be kept on ice. Preparations for the event started first thing on Monday morning and by Tuesday evening everything was in readiness and the event went off like clockwork. We thank everyone who helped in any way, not forgetting the ladies and you for coming along to make this an historic occasion for our community. All three schools in the parish were visited on Thursday morning where the boys were received with great enthusiasm by the young children.
The Junior Hurling team qualified for the Final where they will meet St Patricks, following their 2-20 to 3-13 victory over Clonmel Og. See report elsewhere.
The Score Prediction is now nearing the closing stages and little separates the leaders at present. Check website for update.
