It has been several weeks since we last updated the juvenile club scene, so a lot to catch up on.

Cúl camp went off brilliantly – 100 kids registered, and all seemed to enjoy the week. We were lucky with the weather, as well as with teh coaches we had. Noel Russell headed up the coaching once again, and ran an excellent camp. We had several coaches from around the county, including local county player Paul Maher. We also had locals Daire Brennan and Cora Maher employed as runners, but both ended up getting involved in coaching. Huge thanks to all our coaches, as well our helpers from our U14 panel. Also many thanks to Meadhbh Freaney who, without being asked, stepped in and helped out with tasks too numerous and varied to list here. Final thanks to all the kids who attended, who played brilliantly and behaved impeccably.

Back to usual club activities, all age levels have seen planty of action over the past few weeks. The u6s, u8s and u10s have all played blitzes in both hurling and football.

Our U14s have been hard at work in the A hurling championship – recording impressive wins over traditional hurling powers of Cahir, Clonmel Og and Moyle Rovers. However, 2 early losses to Ballingarry and Carrick Swan, coupled with further narrow defeats to St Marys and Mullinahone has left them in the unenviable position of facing a playoff with Mullinahone for a place in the south semi finals. This playoff is scheduled for Thursday 20th at 7pm in Davin Park.

The U16s have also had mixed fortunes to date in the B championship. To date they have suffered defeats at the hands of Mullinahone and Cahir, but had a good wins over Ballybacon/Grange and a weakened Ballylooby/Fr Sheehys, as well as a narrow win over Clonmel Og in a pulsating game. Their next outing is this evening (Mon 17th) against Anner Gaels in Cloneen. Throw in is at 7pm.

Howver, pride of place has to go to our U12 hurlers. They completed an historic double this weekend by winning the U12B South Hurling Championship, to go with their U12B football championship won earlier in the year. It is 21 years since this was last achieved in Kilsheelan, and it couldn't have been done in better style. This impressive group of players have only lost one single championship match to date this season – the county football final. They went unbeaten through the group stages and fittingly played Killenaule in the semi final and St Pats in the final – the same teams that had run them closest in the group stages. See match report for full details of an outstandign achievement. Well done to all involved.

Their County Semi Final is vs Borris Illeigh this coming Saturday 22nd – venue and time TBC.
