13/12: Kilsheelan-Kilcash Calendar now on sale. This is an ideal Christmas Stocking filler or gift for grand-parents. Featuring 95% plus of children who played with us during the year. Available for €10. Please text name and number required to your child’s coach, also available in Maher’s shop, from Kevin Kelly, Noel Murphy and Liam Stokes.

Our U/12 and U/14 County Final winning teams plus commemorative article is now featured on the Annual Tipperary Year Book and also the local Christmas Booklet. Both available in the local shops and would be a nice keepsake for the children.

6/12: In the Munster Colleges U/15”A” Football Final Clonmel High School travelled to Mallow to take on an honours laden St Brendans Killarney side. Taking on any Kerry side would mean carrying the underdogs tag. Unnerved by the concession of an early goal the local side went on to tear the form book to shreds and won by nine points. Playing a major role in this victory was full back Eoin Kehoe and half forward Kevin Kirwan who scored three points. Tadgh Lonergan was also on the panel.

The customary draw for 5 Christmas Hampers amongst the County Draw subscribers took place and the lucky winners were; Mike Martin, John Geraghty, Terry O’Brien, John Ryan and Breda O’Neill. Congrats.

25/11: On Friday night last at the Clonmel Og Clubhouse, South Board na nOg hosted the presentation of medals to all winning captains. The Officers of the Board were present and commended all the teams on their success during the year when over 100 matches were played. The guests presenting the medals were County Minor player John O’Dwyer and his Football counterpart Conor Sweeney. Our two Captains were presented with their medals, Martin Gibbs for U/12”B” Hurling and acting Captain Paul Maher for U/14”B” Football. After the presentation photos were taken and light refreshments served. The A.G.M of the South Board na nOg will be held in the Clubhouse in Davin Park on Wednesday 9th December.

Still wondering what to buy that GAA enthusiast in your life for Christmas – well you can solve the problem by purchasing a copy of the South Board History. Anything you want to know about South Board affairs since its foundation can be found in this publication. Copies can be had both in hard back and paper back from the Club Secretary.

15/11: On Thursday night last the County Board na nOg made the presentation to the 19 County Juvenile Club winners in Hayes Hotel. It should be noted that this year 13 of the 19 County trophies came South with Clonmel Commercials heading the poll with four wins. On the night we had two representatives receiving the County medals on behalf of their teams. Up first was Kevin Kirwan who was captain of the U/14 “B” Football team that beat Galtee Rovers earlier in the year. Kevin received his medals from Andrew Morrissey, who is the present Tipperary Football Senior Captain, and in his speech after the presentation, Andrew wished each Club the very best in the coming years and that it’s from these teams the Senior players of the future will come.

Our second Captain of the night was Martin Gibbs whose team beat Rockwell Rovers in the U/12”B” Hurling Final in Semple Stadium in September. He received the medals from Noel Mc Grath, our All Star and Young Hurler of the year winner. Noel brought along his two trophies. It was also noted by the Board that this was the first ever County Hurling Title that the Kilsheelan-Kilcash Club had won. Let’s hope many more will now follow. It was also a night for the County U/15 Munster Inter County footballers who contested the Sean Dun Tournament in Cork during the Summer. Tipperary came away winners of the trophy which was Captained by our own Bill Maher who also won the Player of the Tournament. Again the medals were presented by Andrew Morrissey.

In recent weeks the Finals of the Cul Camp Hurling Skills were held in Thurles. Our one and only representative was Martin Gibbs who competed in the U/12 age group. There were over 30 competitors from all over the County in this section. After over an hour of different skill plays Martin came away as the outright winner. He had the distinction of not missing any of the eight skills that were required. Well done. He was presented with Tipperary gear by John Cummins.

The Clonmel High School first years were defeated by Roscrea by a single point at the Semi Final stage.  Club players involved were Paul Maher and Brendan Martin.

The U/15 Football team had a good win over Tralee CBS  by 1-12 to 1-5 and are now into a Munster Final against St. Brendans of Killarney due to be played in early December. Our players involved included Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Kirwan and Tadgh Lonergan.

The curtain has finally come down on our Juvenile Club activities after a very busy and successful year. The last few weeks were eventful for all involved. Our U/12 hurlers played in the Carrigeen Tournament, finally succumbing in the quarter final stage despite missing many key players. They acquitted themselves very well in the A grade of this Tournament playing Antrim, Kilkenny,Wexford and Waterford teams. They lost 2 games both by the minimum and can count themselves unlucky as many referee decisions against Kilkenny, like their senior counterparts, went against them in the quarter Final. Unfortunately at the time of year we were bound to be missing panel members at each game and we wish to thank everyone who attended and gave their all.

During this frenetic time, the Juvenile Club hosted their inaugural Casino night in Ballypatrick. This was well supported by all, many who never rolled the Dice before. The eventual overall winner was Bridget Holohan a novice, trained expertly by Croupier Mike Martin (who learnt the ropes an hour earlier!), beating Dutch opposition to make it to the final table. There, she stared down seasoned and unseasoned Texas Hold’em players to claim victory. Many others played black jack or lost everything on Roulette & Craps. A disco followed with many movers and shakers of the night clubs of yester years proving they hadn’t lost any of their moves. All got home safely after a great night’s entertainment. We especially wish to thank all who contributed, from numerous croupiers, bouncers/door men, bunny girls, waitresses, MC and every one who helped. Without a doubt every one made a huge effort and the black tie of the croupiers really contributed to their professionalism!

The Victories U/12 hurlers and U/14 footballers travelled to Galway to play Galway U/12 champions and Salthill. The U/12s played Meelick Eyrecourt, close neighbours of Portumna, in an excellent game of hurling. We had again many stars and eventually saw off a gallant and determined Meelick Eyrecourt by a 4 point victory. We had a coaching session with three of the current Galway team and they imparted words of wisdom, time and encouragement to both sets of players. We were then fed and foddered by a very generous Meelick Eyrecourt Club, thank you. We then travelled to Knocknacarra to play Salthill U/14 “A” squad. We started slowly, but as our guys kicked off the dust, we played some cracking football eventually running out easy winners. This trip showed to this squad of players that they are better than many teams in other strong football counties and if they keep playing and developing they can be a force to be reckoned with.

We then travelled to the highlight of the week end, Pure Skill, as aptly described by one of the players, a planet playground for 12 to 14 year olds. This allowed all, including mentors experience other disciplines like baseball, rugby, kickboxing etc. As a prize was available for top score and with honour high (scores kept by pal!), this was a fiercely competitive few hours. Eventually we drew a winner, Kyle O’Connell. Again having eaten we set for home, stopping in an Arcade in Limerick. We returned home tired, but exhilarated after a very enjoyable day. All the players who travelled can be very proud, they behaved impeccably and were a credit to their families, Club and self and it was an honour to be associated with such a respectful group. Well done.

Finally our U/8 and 10’s travelled for an end of season game to St Finbar's in Cork. The day was atrocious, but that did not stop these stars of the future putting one over the Bars winning their games. They then sampled the entertainment in Cork and played in Super Nova for 2 hours prior to travelling home. Well done again to all who travelled and especially to Dan O’ Connor for organising the trip.

Our Club are embarking on a new development plan which hopefully will facilitate further successful years like this one. We contested 8 Finals this year, winning four and drawing one only to be defeated in a replay. We played at higher grades than we had done in the past and still acquitted ourselves very well. The future for the Club is looking brighter. To all involved with the Juvenile club this year, thank you and well done on an excellent job and we look forward to bigger and better years to come. The development plan is available to any who wish to avail of it by e-mail from kellyks@iol.ie or any of the committee members.

8/11: At a presentation in Templemore on Friday night last John Kehoe and Kevin Larkin received their medals as members of the Tipperary team who won the All Ireland U/16 Hurling Tournament while Eoin Kehoe also received his medal as a member of the U/14 Hurling Tony Forristal winning team. They were presented by Liam Sheedy at a very enjoyable function, Congrats to these young players.

1/11: Our U/10 Football team played in the long awaited South Championship Blitz on Bank Holiday Monday after being cancelled on Saturday. We were drawn against Ballingarry, Commercials and Carrick Swan in our round robin. In our opening match we defeated Ballingarry 2-3 to 0-1. Next up were Commercials who got the better of us on a scoreline of 2-3 to 0-1. Last up were the Swan and it really was a game of two halves. Leading at half time by 5 points to no score the Swan were a different team in the second half levelling with 2 minutes to go and it took a free from Sean Martin in the dying seconds to separate the two teams. We qualified to play Ardfinnan in the A grade for the second year in a row coming out on top with a score line of 1-7 to 2-0. As with last year we played Clonmel Commercials in the Final, unfortunately with the same result losing out on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-3. We must congratulate this team for the marvellous effort that they put in this year and they have exceeded the expectation of the coaches. Well done to all.

Panel: Aaron Dempsey, Brian Flavin, Zack Crotty, Frank Mallekoute, Killian McHale, Shane Cosgrave, Kian Quinn, John O’Dwyer, Jamie Roche, Mark Stokes, Sean Martin, Luke Kiely, David Carroll, Shaun Boland, Conor Murphy, Andrew Butler, Oisin O’Connell, John Glynn, Nathan O’Reilly, Cora Maher, Katie Roche, Cathal Kelly, Lee Ryan , Barry Kehoe, Daire Murphy.

On Saturday night the lads put the disappointment of yet another cancellation of the Hurling Blitz behind them when we lined out in Semple Stadium to play Grangemockler under lights at half time of the final Senior Intercounty challenge of the year. We took part in the Michael Hogan memorial weekend. We thank Grangemockler for the invitation to be among the first Juvenile Clubs to play under the new lights in Semple. Twelve players braved Halloween night to line out in an occasion that we hope they will always remember. We had an enjoyable stop in Supermacs on the way home, thanks to the parents who were not found wanting for their support and transport on the night as they have done all year. The hardy souls who travelled were: Conor Murphy, Shane Cosgrave, John O’Dwyer, Oisin O’Connell, Jamie Roche, Andrew Butler, Mark Stokes, Frank Mallekoute, Jack Walsh, Zack Crotty, Shaun Boland, David Carroll, Killian McHale and Barry Kehoe.

Next up will be the Hurling Blitz on Sunday 8th November, preceded by a trip to Cork with the U/8’s to play St Finbarrs. Leaving at 9am Saturday 7th.

25/10: Congratulations to Bill Maher who was selected as Clonmel High Schools Player of the Year.

One could say that he was Mullinahone’s loss and Kilsheelan’s gain. His father Ollie starred with Mullinahone in his youth. Circumstances were to leave him residing in Kilsheelan. Bill, along with his brother Paul learned their hurling skills at the local National School. Bill went on to become a valued member of our Juvenile teams and recently he lined out for the Club in the South U/16”A” Hurling Final. Since going to the High School he has starred in both hurling and football and plays in the half back line. Well done Bill.

18/10: The Juvenile Club will hold a  Fun Casino Night in Ballypatrick Sports Club on Saturday 24th October at 9pm. Entry to this premier event is €10 for a set of chips and a complimentary first drink (these chips are not of the salt and vinegar variety!!!). Our U/12 hurlers were back in action after a four week break in the “A” Division of the Carrigeen tournament. Not all players could be involved as this is a 10 a side competition. We played St John’s from Belfast Antrim who travelled down that day. They got off to a whirlwind start and were seven points ahead very quickly, but Kilsheelan slowly fought back to a three point deficit at half time. In the second half we were the better side, but perhaps started going for goals too early from frees. The Antrim goalie was superb saving at least five cracking shots. As the game entered the final five minutes we drew level, but an error allowed Antrim score an easy goal. They added two further points and again Kilsheelan drove forward. We scored three unanswered points and had two 21 yard raspers saved in the final minute. This was not to be our night and we lost by two points in the end. It was a privilege to play a fine Antrim side and a great experience for the players. We play O’ Loughlin Gaels, Kilkenny next week in a must win game.

Our U/8 & U/7 panels continue to play some challenge matches over the last few weekends. The weather has been very kind to us on both occasions and it is great to see such a large number of parents coming to the games. Ardfinnan were our visitors two weeks ago, followed by Moyle Rovers this weekend. Our U/7 panels won both of their games. Despite our U/8’s giving a very committed performance they lost both games by a single score.
U/8 Panel: Patrick French, Billy O'Connor, Billy Murphy, Jack O'Gorman, Sean Freaney, Cathal Kelly, Lee Ryan, Jack O'Loughlin, Dara Murphy, Barry Kehoe and Jason Madigan,
U/7 Panel: Adam Quigley, Conor Grant, Sean Allison, Jamie Cronin, Charles Shanahan, Hannah Mallekoute, Jack Carroll, Jack Roche and Thomas Morrissey

Next Saturday (Oct 24th) Commercials will visit us in Kilsheelan.
Our U/13 Football team travelled to Durles Og to take on the home side in the County League. Our side dominated the early stages but found scores hard to come by. Many of them had played in a Tournament the previous day and fatigue set in later in the game. Despite giving a good account of themselves they were beaten.

TEAM: Conor O’ Farrell, Shane Brunnock, Kevin Kehoe, Evan Quigley, Daire Brennan, Paul Maher, Mark Kehoe, Brendan Martin, Eoghan Kelly, Stephen Lahert, Martin Gibbs, Aaron Larkin, Brian Twohig, Riain Connolly and Ryan Lonergan.

11/10: In their first round game in the 1st Year’s championship in Clonmel High School they were defeated by Roscrea. Local players involved were Paul Maher and Brendan Martin who scored 1-4.

In the first round of the U/15 Football Clonmel High School defeated St Flannans. Though they were level at half time, The Clonmel side pulled away in the second half to win by 5-17 to 1-2. Kilsheelan-Kilcash players involved included Kevin Kirwan, Tadgh Lonergan and Eoin Kehoe.

In their opening championship match Kilsheelan N.S. played Two Mile Borris in Golden. The opposition had an early goal. Kilsheelan soon countered with a goal of their own to level the score. Stephen Lahert had a left legged shot which hit the crossbar. Kilsheelan added 1-1.

The match had to be held up due to torrential rain. When play resumed Two Mile Borris got three consecutive goals before the first half ended on a scoreline of 4-0 to 2-1.  Kilsheelan opened the second half with an excellent shot by Daíre Brennan. Shane Barry had a few excellent shots stopped on the line as well as Stephen Lahert. Kilsheelan got another great point to make it 3-3 to 4-0. But Two Mile Borris got another goal on their counter attack. Kyle O’Connell made a great save when a goal looked likely. Kilsheelan went on another attack which led to a goal which left them a point down. In the last few minutes of play Kevin Kehoe got a marvellous point which levelled the game at 4-3 to 5-0 and this was the last score of the game.

4/10: Hard luck on our U/16 Hurling team who lost the “A” Final to St Mary’s in Fethard last Sunday. This was the Club’s first time playing in this grade. In the group stages the team lost to St Mary’s and won their five other matches. In the Semi Final they had two points to spare over Mullinahone. The Board fixed the Final against St Mary’s for Sunday week last. On the morning of the match our players were warming up in our own pitch when word came through that our opponents were not fulfilling the fixture. A special Board Meeting was held on the Monday night and our team were awarded the match. Our back room team sportingly offered to play the match and we commend them for this magnanimous gesture. This was not appreciated by some of the Clonmel side’s supporters judging by remarks passed during the game. We thank the players who have given us great entertainment over the last few months. We must remember that some of them were also on the U/14 team and they all acquitted themselves well throughout the campaign. We also say well done to the back room team who put in endless hours in preparing the side. In the meantime we wish St Mary’s well in the County series. (See match report elsewhere). A sincere thanks to our supporters who turned out in large numbers both on this occasion and many others throughout a very successful year for our Juvenile Club.

This brings the curtain down on all Club activities on the field of play for this year. Our pitch will no longer echo to the clash of the ash, the lash of the leather or the blast of a referee’s whistle. It has afforded us the opportunity to do some maintenance on our pitch. It was sanded last week and repair work is also to be carried out on the goalmouths thus ensuring that it will have ample time to recover over the winter period.

28/9: It was new territory for our U/16 Hurling team when they contested their first ever “A” Semi Final when the opposition was Mullinahone at Marlfield on Friday evening. They got off to a disastrous start and were 2-4 to 0-1 behind after ten minutes and dreams of a Final appearance were far from their minds. Inspired by a goal from a long distance free by Colin Gleeson the team hit back in fine style and led by two points at half time. The second half was very even as both sides went in search of victory. Well done to our lads who went on to win by 2-13 to 3-8.

The Final against St Mary’s was scheduled to take place in Ned Hall Park last Sunday at 1pm. The players had gathered in the village and word came through that the match was called off in very controversial circumstances and was outside our control.

Our U/8s visited Clerihan last Saturday for a County Football blitz. Again, we had two panels competing. On a beautiful morning for football the large numbers of parents were treated to some excellent games at the splendid Clerihan grounds.

21/9: The Club participated in a Go Games U/10 Football initiative led by the Munster Council on a beautiful morning in Kilsheelan last week. There were over 80 players involved and they all received a football and t-shirt sponsored by the Munster Council. The Blitz provided an ideal opportunity for coaches
to assess their team performance against ‘foreign’ opposition and also will give Clubs an opportunity to make new contacts to play friendly games and blitzes against in the future.

Our Club competed against Fethard, Galtee Rovers & Stradbally (Waterford). We had two panels of players and were unbeaten in all of our games. Well done to everyone concerned and our thanks to the ladies committee who supplied sandwiches and tea to all the coaches.

PLAYERS: Cian Quinn, John O’Dwyer, Brian Flavin, Frank Mallekoute, Sean Martin, Mark Stokes, Luke Kiely, Conor Murphy, Jamie Roche, Lee Ryan, Cillian Mc Hale, Shane Cosgrove, Andrew Butler, Zach Crotty, Cora Maher, Katie Roche, Billy O’Connor, Dara Murphy, Cathal Kelly, John Glynn, Sean Boland and Jack O’Loughlin.

The Club hosted an U/8 Hurling blitz on Saturday last. Carrick Davins, Clerihan and Clonmel Og were our visitors. We had two teams playing in the blitz. Our U/8 panel were undefeated in all their games. Their game against Clerihan was the decider to top the group. Patrick French was outstanding in goal, assisted by a very strong defence of Billy Murphy, Billy O'Connor, Sean Freaney and Jack O'Gorman. Cathal Kelly and Lee Ryan in midfield and in the forwards, Jason Madigan and Dara Murphy worked tirelessly with Barry Kehoe and Jack O'Loughlin scoring two excellent goals in the deciding game.
Our U/7 panel started with a win over Clonmel Og with Adam Quigley, Conor Grant, Sean Allison and Charles Shanahan displaying great skills. They also played against Carrick Davins and Clerihan.
Well done to all on a great day of hurling. We are on the road to Clerihan next Saturday for the football blitz.
U/8 Panel: Patrick French, Billy O'Connor, Billy Murphy, Jack O'Gorman, Sean Freaney, Cathal Kelly, Lee Ryan, Jack O'Loughlin, Dara Murphy, Barry Kehoe and Jason Madigan,
U/7 Panel: Thomas Morrissey, Adam Quigley, John Carroll, Sean Allison, Jamie Cronin, Charles Shanahan, Hannah Mallekoute, Jack Carroll, Jack Roche and Barry Thompson.

Our U/16 Hurling team were due to play Mullinahone last Saturday in the South Semi Final but unfortunately it had to be called off due to illness in both camps.

13/9: In the South U/14 Hurling Final our lads had Ballybacon-Grange as opponents in Clonmel. Having defeated them in the group stages hopes were high that a similar result would be the outcome. Unfortunately it was not to be. Kilsheelan got off to the worst possible start as Ballybacon had a match winner in Tom Kirwan and he shot three goals in the first ten minutes which had an unsettling effect on our side. Kilsheelan got on top in the closing stages of the half. A goal by Paudie O’Donovan and points by Eoin Kehoe and Sean Ryan left us trailing by 3-1 to 1-4 at half time and a recovery looked to be in prospect.

The winners had a goal after the interval and made our task impossible as we eventually went down by 4-4 to 1-5. While a team can often play only as well as they are allowed to, our side are capable of much better. The wet conditions were better suited to the more physical Ballybacon side. However, this should not detract from Ballybacon’s well deserved win and we wish them well in the County series.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan 0-1, Martin Gibbs, Kevin Guiry, David Smyth, Eoin Kehoe 0-4, Paul Maher, Cian Flavin, Kevin Kirwan, Riain Connolly, Paudie O’Donovan 1-0, John Smyth and Brendan Martin.

SUBS: Eoghan Kelly for Eric O’Shea

Congrats to Mary Conlon Carrickbeg who was our latest winner in the Golden Goal. Your final chance to win €50 this year will be on next Sunday’s All Ireland Football Final.

6/9: The famine is over, or should one say, that the long wait is no more. Gaelic games have been an integral part of life in Kilsheelan-Kilcash since its foundation. During that time quite a number of County Football Titles were annexed but a Hurling Title, at any grade, always eluded us. This was all to change in Semple Stadium on Saturday last when our U/12 team had a well deserved win over Rockwell Rovers in the “B” Final. See Match Report elsewhere.

The same panel of players lost the South “A” Football Final after a replay. They went on to show their versatility with the hurley by beating all comers in the Division. In the County Final they showed fierce determination from the opening whistle. An early goal settled them and despite a determined Rockwell effort our lads never looked like losing.

Goalkeeper Stephen Lahart conceded no goals in the last three matches. He had a very sound full back line to protect him. Martin Gibbs led by example as Captain and cleared his lines time and again while Kyle O’Connell and Brian Guiry never put a foot wrong. Further afield many of Rockwell’s promising attacks perished when confronted by Eoghan Flavin, Mark Kehoe and Evan Quigley. Once again Brendan Martin starred at midfield while Eoghan Kelly’s work rate was a major plus and it was he who secured the opening score. Half forwards Kevin Kehoe, Daire Brennan and Sean Martin put the losers defence under lots of pressure. Upfront Edward Carroll’s two goals were priceless. Completing the team were Brian Twohig and Darragh Kelly and they also had major roles to play. Throughout the campaign subs Ryan Lonergan, Aaron Fogarty, Chelsea Holden, Luke Kiely, Mark Stokes, Conor Murphy, Frank Mallekoute, Jack O’Donnell and Aaron Dempsey also got their chances to show their talents.

Well done also to the backroom team of Kevin Kelly, Liam Stokes, Mike Martin, Carol Gibbs, Jim Healy and Keith O’Brien. One must commend the County Board for putting on the A, B and C Finals on the one day at the Field of Legends. For those of tender years it was a great opportunity to play on the big stage. Congratulations to all. They brought honour to themselves, their families and their Club. It was great to see so many from the parish present and those who stayed away were the biggest losers as they missed history being written. We also congratulate Moyle Rovers on winning the “A” Final thus making it a double for the South Division.

The U/14 Hurling team travelled to Carrick to take on Fethard. The prize for the winners was a place in the South Final. A lot of work has been put into this team and confidence was high that they would progress. Incessant rain throughout the day made conditions difficult, however, that did not deter the contestants.

Kilsheelan took a little time to settle into the game as Fethard had a number of early wides. Once Kilsheelan got their opening goal they were into their stride and began to dominate all over the field and led at half time by 3-8 to 0-1.

In the second half Fethard struck with two goals but each time Kilsheelan responded positively and gradually extended their lead. At the final whistle they were leading by 5-9 to 2-1.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, Martin Gibbs, Kevin Guiry, David Smyth 0-1, Eoin Kehoe 1-5, Paul Maher 1-1, Cian Flavin 1-2, Kevin Kirwan, Riain Connolly 1-0, Paudie O’Donovan, John Smyth 1-0 and Niall Butler.

SUBS: Aaron Larkin, Eoghan Kelly, Conor O’Farrell, Kevin Kehoe and Shane Brunnock,

30/8: The exploits of our U/12 Hurling team just seem to go on and on. Following their victory in the South “B” Final they travelled to Boherlahan to take on Moneygall in the County Semi Final. In the small ball game South teams have little success when they meet opposition from further up the County but on this occasion it was different. Our young hopefuls knuckled down to their huge task from the opening whistle and dominated the half. Unfortunately the attack were unable to capitalize on a number of the chances created and at half time it was the North reps who led by 0-2 to 0-1. A similar pattern pertained in the second half. Brendan Martin put the side’s level and repeated the feat minutes later for a lead they never lost. This was a great team performance with the defence very solid where Martin Gibbs played a captain’s part. Despite playing through the pain barrier Brendan Martin was an inspiring figure in the centre of the field where he was ably assisted by Eoghan Kelly. (Just what the doctor ordered). Despite the attack seeing plenty ball they had great difficulty in piercing the losers defence.

They now go on to the County Final and this will be a very unique occasion as the Club goes in search of its first ever County Hurling Title in any grade. It will take place at Semple Stadium in Thurles this Saturday at 12noon. We would urge senior players, members and supporters alike to come along in large numbers and hopefully see history being  maDE

Players will respond to vocal support so we ask you to be among them – See match Report on Website.

It was a busy weekend for a number of our players representing Tipperary. In the Tipperary Supporters U/16 Tournament Tipperary defeated Galway in the Final. In Saturday’s group stages John Kehoe played while Kevin Larkin was also a member of the panel. In the Tony Forrestal Tournament in Waterford Eoin Kehoe lined out in all the games at wing back and helped Tipperary to victory over Waterford in the Final. In the Sony Walsh Tournament for the “B” teams Tadgh Lonergan lined out in goal in all the matches but unfortunately lost out in the Final to Waterford. In the Carrigdhoun blitz Bill Maher lined out but unfortunately picked up an injury in the opening match. Well done to all these young players on their achievements.

Our venue was one of four chosen for the Tipperary Supporters U/16 championship. Visitors were  from Limerick, Wexford, Offaly and Clare. In the warm sunshine our venue was an ideal setting and received much favourable comment from our visitors. In keeping with GAA tradition the catering was taken on by the ladies and everyone was most appreciative of the hospitality provided. Take a bow ladies and thanks. Well done also to the members of our U/16 teams who acted as linesmen and scoreboard operators. This was a learning experience for them and they acquitted themselves very well. Well done to others who helped out in other capacities on the day.

23/8: On behalf of the Kilsheelan-Kilcash Senior Club we would like to wish all our young players well next weekend when they play at different venues. In the Arrabawn U/16 Tournament being held in South Tipperary, including our own pitch, we will be represented by Kevin Larkin and John Kehoe. Tipperary will play in Monroe. In the U/15 Tournament in Carrighdoun in Cork the Club will be represented by Bill Maher. In the U/14 Tony Forrestal Tournament on Saturday 29th in Waterford Eoin Kehoe will be our representative. In the “B” competition Tadgh Lonergan will represent us. It is wonderful to see these young players starting to make their mark on the County scene. The people involved with them down through the years and watching them, and indeed all our young players develop, can take pride in their achievements. A special mention here to Liam Corcoran who has been training these lads since they were able to catch a hurley. Best of luck all.

We will have Offaly, Wexford and Limerick U/16 players at our venue on Saturday next as stated above. Each team will have two games of twenty minutes duration and we will have a Shield Semi Final later in the afternoon. All are welcome to come along – see sports pages for further information.

Congrats to Carol Gibbs and Ollie Maher both recent winners of the Golden Goal competition. Last week the winning moment was 8th in the Cork V Tyrone game. This week the competition will be based on the Kerry V Meath Football Semi Final.

Our U/12 Hurling team will take on Moneygal in the County “B” Semi Final next weekend. For confirmation see local posters or website.

16/8: Not for the first time this year our U/12 players take pride of place in the weekly notes. In the Football Final they lost out to Moyle Rovers in a replay after a great battle. In recent weeks they have shown their versatility when reaching the “B” Final in Hurling. Their only defeat in the group stages was against Killenaule as they were understrength due to a number of players being on holidays. This defeat was a blessing in disguise as Killenaule carried the favourites tag when they met them again in the Final. From the opening whistle Kilsheelan were the dominant side and the Killenaule defence were stretched to keep them at bay. With every player giving their all they remained in control right through and were worthy winners by 0-4 to 0-1 at the final whistle.

Stephen Lahart got little to do in goal and this is a tribute to the sound defence he had outside him, Martin Gibbs played the captain’s part at full back and he was inspirational in bringing the best out of his fellow defenders Kyle O’Connell, Brian Guiry, Eoghan Flavin, Mark Kehoe and Evan Quigley, At centre field we had the man of the match in Brendan Martin who got all our sides scores while fellow midfielder Eoghan Kelly assisted him well, In attack the first touch of some of our players was a joy to watch but unfortunately they did not succeed in notching up the scores their approach play would have deserved. In this area we pay tribute to Kevin Kehoe, Daire Brennan, Sean Martin, Brian Twohig, Edward Carroll, Darragh Kelly and sub Ryan Lonergan. Other players on the panel and who played in earlier games were: Luke Kiely, Chelsea Holden, Aaron Fogarty, Mark Stokes, Conor Murphy, Jack O’Donnell and Frank Mallecotte.

When the final whistle sounded there were scenes of great excitement and those young aspirants can feel very proud of their achievement. No team could achieve anything without a strong backroom crew which in this case is very much a cosmopolitan group. They were Limerick man and Manager Kevin Kelly, Meath man Keith O’Brien probably still licking his lips following his sides victory in Croke Park last week, Mayo man Mike Martin likely licking his wounds from the same match. Coming nearer home we had Grangemockler native Jim Healy who played against us in the past while the only “home grown” members were Carol Gibbs and trainer Liam Stokes.

We thank the players and their mentors for giving such enjoyment and wish them well in the County series. It was also great to see so many supporters and we hope they will come in even larger numbers for future games. See Match Report on www.kilsheelankilcash.tipperary.gaa.ie.

In the U/16 “A” Hurling championship we were are home to Ballingarry. Kilsheelan-Kilcash started well with two goals from Kevin Kirwan and Finbar Horgan. Ballingarry shot a number of wides. In the closing stages Kilsheelan had a goal from Alex Harte and at half time led by 3-5 to 0-5. Midway through the second half Kilsheelan were reduced to 14 players as they led by 3-7 to 1-7. For the next five minutes Ballingarry laid siege on the Kilsheelan goal but the defence held firm. A further goal, from a free, by John Kehoe made matters safe as Kilsheelan went on to win by 4-9 to 1-8.

TEAM: Adrian Mc Guire, David Columby, David Corcoran, Sean Ryan, Colin Gleeson, Bill Maher, Eoin Kehoe, Dean Mulcahy, Kevin Kirwan, Jamie Cronin, John Kehoe, Cian Flavin, Paul Maher, Alex Harte and Finbar Horgan.

SUB: Tadgh Lonergan. This win puts Kilsheelan through to the Semi Finals.

Next Sunday evening Kilsheelan will stage a double header beginning with the U/21”A” Hurling Final at 5.15 between Ballingarry and Moyle Rovers. This will be followed by the eagerly awaited South Senior Hurling Final between Killenaule and Mullinahone. To ensure the efficient running of this event, we need all our committee, players etc available to assist the smooth running of the fixture. Please assemble at 4.30pm

Congratulations to Lydia Ahearne who played no small part in Tipperary’s 1-11 to 0-8 win over Roscommon in the All Ireland U/16 Football Final last week. Playing in the half forward line her great pace was a constant threat to the Roscommon defence and in the process she scored two vital points. Well done Lydia.

16/8: The U/16 Hurling team, having lost their previous encounter in the “A” championship to Killenaule, went about getting back on winning ways when they were at home to Carrick Swan. They got off to a good start but the Carrick side went ahead when they had a goal. Kilsheelan quickly regained the initiative with John Kehoe, Colin Gleeson and Alex Harte in scoring form they went on to lead at half time by 3-11 to 1-3.

On the resumption they eased up somewhat. It was also an opportunity to give the subs a run and they went on to win by 4-13 to 1-7.

TEAM: Adrian Mc Guire, Kevin Guiry, David Corcoran, Ruari Doyle, Eoin Kehoe, Bill Maher, Colin Gleeson, Kevin Kirwan, Dean Mulcahy, Jamie Cronin, John Kehoe, Cian Flavin, Paul Maher, Alex Harte and Finbar Horgan.

SUBS: William Lonergan, Tadgh Lonergan and Sean Ryan.

The Final of the U/12 “B” Hurling championship between Kilsheelan-Kilcash and Killenaule will take place next Saturday (15th) at 12noon in Monroe. Anyone watching this group of players in the Football competition will remember the great entertainment they gave us before being defeated in a replayed South Final. Once again we hope large numbers will come out and cheer them on as they have put in a huge effort and players of tender years respond to such support.

The All Ireland U/16 Hurling championship takes place on 29th and 30th August. This competition always takes place in Tipperary and this time it is the turn of the South Division to host it. Our Club is honoured to be chosen as one of the four venues.

There are four groups of three. Our Club will have Wexford, Limerick and Offaly as visitors. Each team will get two matches of twenty minutes duration. In the evening one of the Shield Semi Finals will be on our pitch – more details later.

The gremlins were on the line last week. Apologies and thanks to Eleanor Roche who played no small part in the organising of the recent Summer Camp.

2/8: On Wednesday July 29th the U/12 “B” hurling team met Cahir in the South Semi Final at Ned Hall Park. Both teams had met at the group stages with Kilsheelan coming away winners. However, we knew that Cahir were up for a battle and that our team were not going to get their way. After a very tentative start the team finally got their range and were leading at half time. And with a couple of positional changes in the second half the team came away winners with the final scoreline of 1-5 to 1-3. They now go forward to the South Final to meet Killenaule at a date and time to be decided.

TEAM: Stephen Lahart, Ivan Quigley, Martin Gibbs, Brian Guiry, Mark Kehoe, Eoghan Flavin, Kevin Kehoe, Eoghan Kelly, Daire Brennan, Edward Carroll, Brendan Martin, Darragh Kelly, Aaron Fogarty, Brian Twohig and Sean Martin.

SUBS: Luke Kiely, Conor Murphy, Mark Stokes, Chelsea Holden, Kyle O’Connell and Frank Mallekoote.

The U/14 hurling team’s latest outing was against Skeheenarinka where they had an easy win by 5-13 to 0-1. There’s very little to say about the game except that Skeheen were very much understrength Team: Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, Martin Gibbs, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Guiry, Paul Maher, Cian Flavin, Paudi O’Donovan, Kevin Kirwan, David Smith, Aaron Larkin, John Smyth and Brendan Martin.

SUBS: Niall Butler and Kevin Kehoe.

26/7: Having won their opening game against Killenaule the U/16 Hurling team were away to St Mary’s in the next round. Rain fell throughout the game and ground conditions were very slippery thus militating against good hurling. St Mary’s were on top in the early stages. Our side took some time to settle down. Despite playing against the elements they were in arrears at half time by 0-7 to 0-4. On resumption St Mary’s had a goal. Our attack saw plenty of the ball but could make little headway against a resolute home defence. Going into the last quarter we were five points down. The winners added two quick goals but one would have to say our side performed better than the 3-12 to 0-8 scoreline indicates.

TEAM: Adrian Mc Guire, Kevin Guiry, David Corcoran, Ruairi Doyle, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Larkin, David Columby, Bill Maher, Dean Mulcahy 0-2, Colin Gleeson, Alex Harte 0-2, Kevin Kirwan, Jamie Cronin, John Kehoe 0-4 and Finbar Horgan.

SUBS: Paul Maher, Cian Flavin and Sean Ryan.

Congrats to Michael Ryan Cloughcarrigeen who is the latest winner of the Golden goal competition. Next week’s competition will be on the Kilkenny V Waterford game. The golden moment on The Kerry v Dublin game was the 1st minute.

On Monday morning July 27th the peace and tranquility of our pitch was awakened by the clash of the ash and the lash of the leather. The occasion was the VHI sponsored Cul Camp where over 80 enthuastic boys and girls took part in five days of activities and games. The objective was to teach them the many skills in both codes in an enjoyable atmosphere. Juvenile Officers Carol Gibbs and Noel Murphy co-ordinated the event for the five days as well as Ciara who was on hand to help with the coaching. Coaches were provided by the County Board and had come from Clubs up the county and included Kevin, Barry, Ashling, Ger, David, two Johns and Jack. Despite the inclement weather during the week, the players were eager and can put into practice all they have learned from their coaches in their forthcoming matches. Highlight of the week was the visit of County players Seamus Callinan, Shane Mc Grath and Paul Curran and of course they brought along the trophy won on Munster Final day which is named the Munster Trophy. The trio emphasised the importance of mastering the various skills and listening to their coaches advice. The VHI Cul Camp kit was also given out early in the week and it was nice to see the Camp in colour for the remainder of the week. On the conclusion of the Camp on Friday the children were presented with a Certificate and Medal by their coaches and the Juvenile Club gave refreshments as they left for another year. Well done to all concerned.

26/7: It was a quiet week on the Juvenile front. The U/14 team travelled to Cloneen on Thursday night last to take on the home side in the “B” championship but unfortunately due a pre match downpour the pitch was unplayable. The Summer Cul Camp will take place this week. We hope the weather will be kind to them and we will have a full report next week.

19/7: Another quite week on the Juvenile front. The U/12 Hurling team were away to Killenaule – unfortunately there is no information to hand.

In an Inter County U/15 Football Blitz held in St Finbarr’s Cork on Saturday 11th July Bill Maher represented the Club. He played in all the games and was rewarded by receiving the Player of the Tournament. Well done Bill.

Last weekend they were in action again but were defeated and Bill was absent due to holidays.

Well done to Eoin Kehoe and Kevin Kirwan who were part of the Inter County U/14 Football team who played in the Jim Power Tournament in Dungarvan last Saturday. Having defeated Waterford and Clare in the preliminary rounds they went on to play Kerry in the Cup Semi Final. After a very tough physical game Tipperary came out on top with a three point win. Shortly after that they played Cork in the Cup Final. Following three tough games naturally fatigue set in but these young lads played their hearts out to the bitter end and were defeated by a bigger, stronger Cork team.

In the U/16 Football competition we were represented by John Kehoe and Kevin Larkin with Conor Murphy out due to injury. We won our first game against Clare and went down to Cork in our next game after extra time. Well done to all our players involved in each competition.

12/7: The U/14 hurlers took on Ballybacon-Grange at home. They were the better side and shot some excellent points. However their defence was breached twice and at half time they led by 0-8 to 2-1. Goals in the second half from Kevin Kirwan (2), John Smyth and Brendan Martin helped them to a comprehensive win on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-2.

Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, Martin Gibbs, Eoin Kehoe 0-5, Kevin Guiry, Paul Maher, Cian Flavin 0-1, Conor O’Farrell, Kevin Kirwan 2-1, Eoghan Kelly, Paudie O’Donovan, John Smyth 1-1 and Brendan Martin 1-3.

SUBS: Aaron Larkin, Riain Connolly, Niall Butler, Kevin Kehoe and Shane Brunnock.

The U/12 hurling team made it a hat-trick of wins when they were at home to Skeheenarinky. Two early goals left Kilsheelan set for an easy win. However, Skeheen put up a spirited resistance and our lads had to fight all the way for a 2-7 to 0-3 victory.

TEAM: Stephen Lahart, Evan Quigley, Daire Brennan, Jack O’Donnell, Mark Kehoe, Martin Gibbs 2-1, Kevin Kehoe, Eoghan Kelly 0-1, Eoghan Flavin, Edmond Carroll, Brendan Martin 0-5, Luke Kiely, Ryan Lonergan, Brian Twohig and Sean Martin.

SUBS: Kyle O’Connell, Chelsea Holden, Conor Murphy and Brian Guiry.

2/7: The U/12 hurlers were at home to St Patrick’s last weekend. This was a very entertaining game all through as two evenly matched teams went in search of victory. However Kilsheelan had a match winner in Brendan Martin and his goals proved vital as they went on to win by 7-1 to 2-4.

TEAM: Brian Guiry, Conor Murphy, Mark Kehoe, Kyle O’Connell, Evan Quigley, Kevin Kehoe, Daire Kelly, Eoghan Flavin, Eoghan Kelly, Luke Kiely, Brendan Martin, Edward Carroll, Sean Martin, Daire Brennan and Chelsea Holden.

SUBS: Martin Gibbs, Ryan Lonergan and Stephen Lahart.

Our U/14 hurling team travelled to Ballylooby to take on the home side in the opening round of the “B” championship. Ballylooby were the better side for most of the first half. Kilsheelan then shot two goals and were rather fortunate to be leading at half time by 2-4 to 1-4.

Kilsheelan pulled a master stroke when they moved Eoin Kehoe further upfield and his side were very much on top in the second half. This was an all round excellent performance by the team as they went on to win by 5-9 to 3-5.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, Kevin Guiry, Eoin Kehoe 3-9, Eoghan Kelly, Paul Maher, Martin Gibbs, Paudie O’Donovan, Kevin Kirwan 1-0, Conor O’Farrell, Riain Connolly, John Smyth 1-0 and Brendan Martin.

SUBS: Aaron Larkin, Kevin Kehoe and Shane Brunnock.

What an honour for Brendan Martin to represent his Club in the Primary game in Thurles next Sunday. Best of luck Brendan and enjoy the occasion.

21/6: KILCASH N.S. CUMANN NA MBUNSCOIL 2009: Once again all roads led to Semple Stadium in Thurles on Wednesday last June 17th when our team from the school lined out against a team from Aglish near Nenagh in the County Final of the Cumann Na mBunscoil Roinn G. After reaching the same stage last year, where we came away runners up, the team was more determined to make amends and to come away as winners in this competition and bring the double. The school had already won the Football Final before Christmas for the first time ever in nearly 15 years. On the morning of the match the weather was not in our favour as the rain from the pervious night and that morning was continuous and one wondered if the elements would allow any match to be played. However, when the children arrived to school the bus was ready to take them to Thurles. Someone was definitely praying because by the time they reached Thurles the day was brightening up. The team and their supporters were led into the stadium. They were brought to dressing room No 5  which was the dressing room for the Limerick team on the previous Sunday – would that be a good omen!! The game was at 11.30 so when the team was ready their trainer Liam O Dwyer gave them words of encouragement to make sure that the team firstly would enjoy the occasion and go out and play to the best of their ability regardless of the outcome.

The team was as follows: Martin Gibbs in goal, backs were Aaron Fogarty and Darragh Kelly, mid field Brendan Martin and Eoghan Kelly and the forwards Brian Twohig and Sean Martin. Even after the rain that fell during the previous twelve hours the pitch in Semple was perfect for the match. Brian Twohig as captain won the toss and elected to play with the wind.  From the outset of the game the overall play of the team was impressive to watch with all the team displaying their hurling skills. It is a credit to their coach Liam and Larry Flynn Principal the way the boys read the game and even though Aglish also had the hurling they did not seem to gel like the Kilcash team.  From the first puck out Martin took control of the back line acting as an extra back with Aaron and Darragh. Martin’s puck out was reaching the forward line which was putting pressure on the Aglish backs. Brendan and Eoghan were busy in the midfield and it showed on the scoreboard with Brendan getting 1-4 and Eoghan two points in the first half and then we had Brian and Sean who kept their opponents very busy during the match. The score at half time was Kilcash 1-6 to Aglish 0-0.

When the match resumed the team continued in the same fashion and even though the scoring was not as high in the second half they still fought for every ball and defended any danger that came their way with Martin making three vital saves that could have changed the game. Further points from Brendan and Brian in the second half sealed our victory and when the final whistle blew Kilcash came away winners with a score line of 1-12 to 0-3. A great roar erupted from the stands by the children and the supporters knowing that history was being made. At the presentation by Brian Boyle, the captain Brian Twohig in his speech thanked his team, the subs who had played during the year, coach Liam O Dwyer, teacher Mr Flynn and of course the parents for driving and giving such great support to the team. Also thanks to the extra supporters who had travelled on the day. He also thanked Aglish for a good game and wished them well for the coming year. After plenty of photographs the children were brought to Supermacs for their treat.

On the following morning a surprise visit was made by Tipperary’s Eoin Kelly who presented the team with two sets of medals. The Roinn H Football medals which they had won before Christmas  and the Roinn G Hurling medals. Eoin encouraged all the team members to practise their skills even  when they were not on the practise pitch. Eoin took questions from the school children and before he left they wished him and his team the very best in Sunday’s match against Clare. A good ending to a great year.

14/6: This week the spotlight turns to the U/14 Football team. When they started out in the group stages of the “B” championship Title ambitions did not enter the equation. They got off to a reasonably good start with a number of wins and the watershed for this side was the game away to Fethard. They were nine points down at half time but a brilliant second half turned things around and they went on to win by two points. In the Semi Final they easily defeated St Patricks. The Final against Killenaule took place on Tuesday of last week. Apart from a shaky start the side put in a great display and went on to win easily. In order to meet County Board deadlines the team had to go out again 24 hours later at Boherlahan against Burgess. Having got into the habit of winning the team was now growing in confidence. The North side proved difficult opponents early on but once our lads hit the front there was no stopping them and they went on to win by 4-6 to 1-2. The Final against Galtee Rovers took place at Holycross on Saturday last. This was their third match in four days and this was going to be a test of their mental and physical fitness.  Having to face an influential wind in the first half physched up the team for a tough battle. Having soaked up the early pressure from the Galtee side our lads went on to give an outstanding display. Their inter-passing movements were a joy to watch and this proved decisive on the scoreboard.

There is an old saying “that the show is never over til the fat lady sings”. With a nine point cushion and wind advantage to come one could say that she could have been getting ready backstage. In the second half it was all one way traffic as our side exposed their skills and went on to win by 9-11 to 1-2.  In goal John Smyth never put a foot wrong. The full back line of Eric O’Shea, Cormac Fahey and Brendan Martin came to our rescue in previous games but on this occasion they were never really tested. The half back line of Kevin Guiry, Tadgh Lonergan, and Paul Maher in particular, were outstanding all through. Indeed one could say as a unit they were as compact as a lunch box aboard an airliner. All through the campaign Eoin Kehoe and David Smyth were very influential at center field and were often the instigators of scores. Kevin Kirwan was most effective at center forward and his solo running was a joy to watch. On the wings Sean Ryan and Eoghan Kelly gave him great support and made many openings for others to take the scores. Full forward Cian Flavin kept his best display for the Final. Corner forwards Paudie O’Donovan and Riain Connolly were major contributors on the scoreboard. This was not just a fifteen man team effort. Subs Edward Ahearne, Aaron Larkin, Niall Butler, Joe O’Neill, Conor O’Farrell, Martin Gibbs and Shane Brunnock all played their part. Congratulations to all these young players and keep it up.

There were a number of comments that our side should have been up in the “A” grade. Starting the championship this did not look the case as this team struggled somewhat early on. Full credit to Selectors Ollie Maher, John Ryan and Martin Larkin who saw potential in this team and with much hard work they turned them into a winning combination. A successful team will always catch the imagination of a Parish and we thank the ever increasing number of supporters who came along to support the team throughout their campaign.

For our U/12, 14 and 16’s the hurling championships are about to commence and we hope for continued support on the sidelines.

7/6: This week it was the turn of the U/14 Football team to take centre stage. In the “B” Semi Final at Fethard they were opposed by St Patricks. From an early stage it was clear that our side were much the stronger. Goals by Kevin Kirwan, Eoin Kehoe and Paudie O’Donovan helped us to a half time lead of 4-6 to 0-0. In the second half Kilsheelan took the opportunity to use their full compliment of subs, one of those was Joe O’Neill and he added another goal. St Pats played their best football in the last quarter and for effort alone they would have deserved a better scoreline. At the final whistle Kilsheelan were leading by 5-11 to 0-3. Scorers were Eoin Kehoe 1-4, Kevin Kirwan 2-1, Paudie O’Donovan 1-2, Sean Ryan 0-3, Joe O’Neill 1-0 and Riain Connolly 0-1.

In the Junior “A” Hurling championship Kilsheelan travelled to Clogheen to take on Skeheenarinky. Our side lost by 1-10 to 1-9. From our point of view this was certainly a game which we left behind. Our forwards saw plenty of the ball but lacked penetration with many scoring chances going harmlessly wide.

31/5: The exploits of our U/12 Football have come to an end for this year. For the first time ever we competed in the “A” grade and what an impression they made, a testament to the amount of work that is going on in our Juvenile Club by some very dedicated personnel. They had an impressive run to the Semi Final where they met Commercials. A nine point defeat in the group stages was turned into a two point win. Four days later in the Final they came up against Moyle Rovers. An earlier eight point defeat showed the magnitude of their task. After a great battle it ended level on 1-5 each. In order to meet County Board schedules they had to replay 24 hours later. This time they were on the wrong side of a 1-9 to 1-2 scoreline which did not do justice to their efforts. Playing against the win they enjoyed lots of possession but were unable to turn it into scores. In the second half, with the elements now in their favour, scores were again hard to come by. A penalty was missed, the ball came off the crossbar and the Moyle Rovers goalkeeper brought off some crucial saves.

We would have to say that the winners were the better side on the night. We had to give way lots of height advantage and having to play three matches in six days finally took its toll.

It was surely an honour and privilege to witness the never-say die efforts and incredible whole hearted spirit of these young players. Defeat for these young aspirants hurt a lot and some tears were shed. The tears were wiped away quickly but the enjoyment they gave us will live in the memory for much longer.

Well done also to their mentors Kevin Kelly, Keith O’Brien, Jim Healy, Carol Gibbs and Mike Martin. Thanks also to our large number of supporters who came along in ever increasing numbers. We salute the players and await the commencement of their hurling championship but for now they are the “Pride of our Parish”.

In the Inter Divisional U/14 Hurling Tournament the South won the Plate Final with an impressive victory over the West. They let the first game slip and went won to the North. The Kilsheelan players involved were Sean Ryan, Tadgh Lonergan and Eoin Kehoe.

24/5: The eagerly awaited U/12 “A” Football Semi Final re-fixture between Kilsheelan-Kilcash and Commercials took place in Kilsheelan last week. A large crowd turned up in anticipation of a titanic battle and they were not disappointed. From the outset both sides showed a fierce determination and will to win. Kilsheelan got the ideal start with a goal in the opening minute when Brendan Martin scored from a penalty. Eight minutes later Commercials had a point from a free. Chances did go abegging but great defensive work by both sides saw to that. Kilsheelan had the greater share of possession and should have had a bigger tally at the interval. Seven minutes into the half Commercials had a point and it was now anyone’s game. Another seven minutes elapsed when Kevin Kehoe pointed for Kilsheelan. The game was now entering the closing stages Commercials attacked strongly but the Kilsheelan defence held firm. Sustained Kilsheelan pressure resulted in a point by Mark Kehoe and Martin Gibbs pointed a long range free. Shortly after this, to the delight of the home following, Kilsheelan were through to the Final on a 1-3 to 0-2 scoreline.

Artjoms Dulenkovs, Sean Martin, Edward Carroll, Brian Twohig, Evan Quigley, Eoghan Kelly, Aaron Fogarty, Brendan Martin, Eoghan Flavin, Kevin Kehoe, Daire Brennan, Mark Kehoe, Darragh Kelly, Martin Gibbs and Stephen Lahart. Best of luck to our determined young bunch of players in the Final against Moyle Rovers.

17/5: In the Rice Cup Semi Final the High School U/14 team were beaten by 1-4 to 0-10. Kilsheelan players involved were Tadgh Lonergan, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Kirwan, Kevin Guiry and Riain Connolly.

10/5: In the U/14 “A” Football championship Kilsheelan travelled to Fethard to take on the home side. Fethard laid down a marker in the opening minutes when they were quickly two points up. We were soon on level terms with points from Tadgh Lonergan and Kevin Kirwan. Fethard had two further points. Kilsheelan went ahead for the first time when Paudie O’Donovan shot to the net. Fethard then struck a purple patch. They had a number of key players up the middle and the Kilsheelan defence were stretched to keep them at bay. In the remainder of the half they added 3-2 to Kilsheelan’s solitary point by Tadgh Lonergan and at the interval the score was 3-6 to 1-3.

When play resumed Eoin Kehoe had a point, Kevin Kirwan had a goal while Riain Connolly also added a point and one wondered if the comeback could be sustained. Fethard had a further point. Kilsheelan’s full forward Kevin Kirwan was now operating further afield. Each time he got the ball he caused problems for the Fethard defence with his solo runs. In one of those attacks the ball came back off the upright when a goal seemed on but Paudie O’Donovan was well placed to send the ball to the net. Both sides went on to swap points, the Kilsheelan efforts coming from Cian Flavin and Paul Maher. With five minutes to go Kilsheelan were a point in arrears. Kevin Kirwan got possession twenty five yards out. His shot for a point never rose sufficiently and dipped under the crossbar to the corner of the net to leave Kilsheelan two points ahead. In the closing minutes they should have added to their total but were happy to come away with their 4-8 to 3-9 victory.

TEAM: John Smyth, Joe O’Neill, Cormac Fahey, Edward Ahearne, Eric O’Shea, Tadgh Lonergan 0-3, Kevin Guiry, Eoin Kehoe 0-1, Paul Maher 0-1, Sean Ryan, Cian Flavin 0-1, David Smyth, Paudie O’Donovan 2-0, Kevin Kirwan 2-1 and Riain Connolly 0-1.

SUBS: Brendan Martin and Eoghan Kelly.

In their final group match in the U/16 “A” Football championship Kilsheelan were at home to Moyle Rovers. Regardless of the outcome Kilsheelan were already through to the Semi Final but Moyle Rovers needed a win to get back into contention. Despite playing against the wind Moyle Rovers set the early pace. After twelve minutes it was looking good for them as they led by 1-3 to 0-2. This was an excellent game of football and a nasty shower failed to damage the enthusiasm of the players. Kilsheelan were the dominant side in the closing ten minutes of the half, Dean Mulcahy shot a goal and they also had a number of wides but at the break it was level pegging at 1-4 each.

Facing into the wind in the second half a determined Kilsheelan side had goals from Alex Harte and Kevin Kirwan. Moyle Rovers got through for a goal and a grandstand finish was in prospect. The visitors went ahead with a further goal and led by 3-5 to 2-7 after fifty two minutes. Some of our players had played a hurling match earlier in the day and tiredness was now setting in. Moyle Rovers stretched their lead to three points. In the final minute Dean Mulcahy made a determined run in search of an equaliser but his shot went over the bar and the Rovers held out for a two point victory.

Team: Colin Gleeson, Tadgh Lonergan, David Corcoran, Ruairi Doyle, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Larkin 0-1, Adrian Mc Guire, Dean Mulcahy 1-4, Bill Maher, Kevin Kirwan 1-0, John Kehoe, Jamie Cronin, Finbarr Horgan, Alex Harte 1-1 and David Columby.

SUBS: John Rooney, Adam Hantz and Sean Ryan.

In the Semi Final against Commercials it was point for point in the opening stages with Bill Maher and John Kehoe on the mark for Kilsheelan. They enjoyed a period of supremacy but were unable to turn it into scores. The turning point of the game came when Commercials had goals in quick succession. Just before the break Dean Mulcahy had a goal for Kilsheelan but it was Commercials who led at the break by 2-6 to 1-3.

When play resumed Bill Maher and John Kehoe had further points. However, a physically stronger Commercials side began to get on top adding two further goals to put the game beyond Kilsheelan’s reach as they went on to win by 4-9 to 1-7.

Scorers: Dean Mulcahy 1-0, John Kehoe 0-3, Bill Maher 0-2, Kevin Larkin and Ruairi Doyle 0-1 each.

La Na gClub: Has come and gone and should remain a pleasant memory for all who attended on a sun splashed afternoon. The day began with Mass offered in both Churches with a GAA input. We thank our Priests for their co-operation and their well chosen words. The Parade from the village to the field led by some local musicians and an enthuastic group of young children and older members was a very colourful affair with everyone sporting the Club colours. Club President Billy Stokes addressed the gathering with a brief history and some encouraging words for the future. A Symbolic Tree was then planted by Club Chairman Jerry Kehoe. A time capsule with appropriate items and memorabilia will be sealed and stored in our premises and will not to be opened until Wednesday 10th May 2034. We were delighted that so many came along to enjoy the wonderful children’s mini games and the Ladies Football match in which the Parents defeated the younger set – well done mums!! There was also an interesting Photographic Exhibition all afternoon in the Clubhouse. Music was provided by Powerstown Ceoltas and some Scor Na bPaisti participants also entertained us including Katy Mullins who has the honour this year of being the first Kilsheelan representative to bring a County Title honours to the Club in this competition. While the BBQ proved very popular there was also tea and light refreshments for everyone. So many people helped out on the day so we will just say a big “thank you” to you all and also to all who joined us for our very special celebrations.

3/5: In the U/12 “A” Football championship our side were at home to Commercials. From an early stage the Clonmel side looked very talented. They quickly had two points on the board before Mark Kehoe opened Kilsheelan’s account with a point. Commercials added a further 1-1 to lead at half time by 1-3 to 0-1.  In the second half Kilsheelan enjoyed superiority for long periods but came up against a very strong Commercials defence but their only reward was two further points from Stephen Lahart. Commercials had two further goals to win by 3-4 to 0-3.

La Na Scoil: To celebrate 125 years on Friday 24th April the three local schools all did their bit to honour the occasion.

In Kilsheelan all the children came to school on the day wearing a Club or County colour jersey. It was lovely to see the array of colours from Tipp, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny and even as far away as Kerry.

Mrs. Barron’s 3rd and 4th designed life size jerseys on the day for the future all Ireland winning teams. We had plenty of style and colour with the designs. Pink could be the new black in time! All classes did some beautiful art work. Miss O’Neill’s first and Mrs. Hearne’s second were to play a Kerry V Tipperary football game on Friday but unfortunately the weather was against us. Plans are still in place to play on our next fine day. Very serious team tactics and panel places are being discussed at break time and lunch time by both classes in anticipation of the match. 3rd to 6th classes had a GAA quiz. Mrs. Barron was our quiz master. The final results were very close and the contest between the top three teams was nail biting throughout. Well done to Paul Maher’s team who won. Mrs. Gaughran’s infants enjoyed a fashion parade of jerseys from clubs and counties. It was really a very enjoyable and informative day!

In Kilcash unfortunately it clashed with a week of school assessment. However, they did not let the side down as they put in a lot of work into Scor Na bPaisti in the last few weeks which resulted in one of its pupils namely Katy Mullins winning the County Final for the first time in the Recitation. A number of other entrants performed very well in the South Final.

Killurney school also got in on the act. Again the pupils arrived in a varied selection of jerseys which made a very colourful scene. The children also entered the spirit of the occasion and this most enthuastic bunch took part in a GAA Quiz. It was also planned to have a match against Killusty but the inclement weather put paid to this on the day but it will be played at a later date.

The Club appreciate the effort the schools put in for this special day and indeed ongoing in the promotion of our gaelic games.

26/4: Unbeaten to date in the U/16A Football championship Kilsheelan-Kilcash were at home to Fethard in their latest game. In their previous match against Commercials no goals were scored but in this case there was an abundance of them. They started well and had a goal from Dean Mulcahy after three minutes and the same player added a further point. This was soon wiped out when Fethard scored 1-3 without reply. Dean Mulcahy reduced the leeway with a point from a free. Kilsheelan again attacked, Bill Maher sent a delightful pin point pass to Kevin Kirwan and he raced through the Fethard defence for a goal. Bill Maher did likewise after twenty one minutes to give them a 3-2 to 1-3 lead. Fethard replied with a point and on the stroke of half time they shot a further goal to bring Kilsheelan’s lead down to one point. When play resumed Dean Mulcahy had a point. Fethard did likewise. Sub John Rooney had a point for Kilsheelan. They looked to be in the driving seat when Kevin Kirwan had a further goal. Fethard added another point while Bill Maher had one for Kilsheelan. They led by 4-5 to 2-7 with eight minutes remaining and looked to be in control but from then on the wheel seemed to fall off. Fethard shot two goals in quick succession to go two points ahead. John Kehoe reduced the deficit with a point. Fethard were well on top in the final minutes and added 1-2 to win by 5-9 to 4-6.

TEAM: Colin Gleeson, Kevin Guiry, Adrian Mc Guire, Tadgh Lonergan, David Columby, Kevin Larkin, Eoin Kehoe, John Kehoe 0-1, Bill Maher 1-1, Adam Hantz, Kevin Kirwan 2-0, Jamie Cronin, James Murphy, Dean Mulcahy 1-3 and Sean Ryan.

SUB: John Rooney 0-1.

In the U/14 Feile we were at home to Ardfinnan. Once again we got off to an impressive start. Points by Kevin Kirwan and Riain Connolly but Kilsheelan ahead. They received a major boost when Kirwan got through for a goal and led at half time by 1-4 to 0-2. When play resumed Ardfinnan got back into the game when they had a goal. Kilsheelan again attacked and had a point from Paudie O’Donovan. Ardfinnan pressed hard but the Kilsheelan defence stood firm. With ten minutes to go the game was virtually decided when Kilsheelan had goals from Paul Maher and Kevin Kirwan. In the closing stages Ardfinnan got through for a further goal but Kilsheelan held out for a win on a scoreline of 3-5 to 3-2.

TEAM: John Smyth, Shane Brunnock, Cormac Fahey, Edward Ahearne, Eric O’Shea, Tadgh Lonergan, Kevin Guiry, Eoin Kehoe, Paul Maher 1-1, Sean Ryan, Cian Flavin, Niall Butler, Paudie O’Donovan 0-1, Kevin Kirwan 2-2 and Riain Connolly 0-1.

SUBS: Eoin Kelly and Conor O’Farrell.

Later in the week the team took part in the first round of the championship at home to Ballyporeen. Eoin Kehoe opened the scoring with a point from a free. In their first attack Ballyporeen got through for a goal. Kilsheelan recovered well. Goals by Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Kirwan and Paudie O’Donovan helped them to a half time lead of 4-3 to 1-1. After the break Kirwan and O’Donovan went on to complete their hat-tricks as they won by 7-8 to 1-3. Ballyporeen would have deserved better reward but a very tight Kilsheelan defence were in no mood to concede scores. Upfront roving full forward Kevin Kirwan’s searing runs always had the Ballyporeen defence at full stretch. Full marks to the mentors, who early in the second half, gave the full compliment of subs a run thus ensuring they all got a meaningful chance to show their talents.

SCORERS: Kevin Kirwan 3-2, Paudie O’Donovan 3-0, Eoin Kehoe 1-1, Riain Connolly 0-2, Tadgh Lonergan, David Smyth and Aaron Larkin 0-1 each.

Additional players on this occasion were: Joe O’Neill, David Smyth, Brendan Martin, Conor O’Farrell, Aaron Larkin and Edward Carroll.

Hard luck on Bill Maher who was on the South Tipp U/15 team who were defeated by North Tipp last Saturday by 2-9 to 0-8.

19/4: In the U/12 “A” Football championship Kilsheelan-Kilcash travelled to Killenaule to take on the home side. The team received a pre match blow when influential centre half back Martin Gibbs had to cry off due to injury. Killenaule had first use of the wind and put it to good use. They had a goal in the early stages and throughout the half they had a further four points. Kilsheelan had their chances to get on the scoreboard but they had to wait for their opening score until just before the interval when Mark Kehoe sent over the bar.

Overcoming a six point deficit was a tall order and they set about this task in a positive way. They were by far the dominant side in that second half and had the Killenaule defence very much on the offensive and their goalkeeper was called on several times to clear his lines. Brendan Martin reduced the leeway with a goal. In a rare breakaway, Killenaule had a goal which was their only score of the half. This would seem to have put an end to Kilsheelan’s comeback. With Daire Brennan and Brendan Martin outstanding in the middle of the field they pushed forward in waves. On one of these attacks Martin shot his second goal. In the closing stages they had further points from Stephen Lahart and Daire Brennan and the lead was down to a minimum. Unfortunately time ran out and they lost by 2-4 to 2-3. While defeat was their lot in the end, full marks to all who put in a great effort especially in the second half.

TEAM: Artjoms Dulenkovs, Brian Guiry, Edward Carroll, Brian Twohig, Mark Kehoe 0-1, Evan Quigley, Aaron Fogarty, Daire Brennan 0-1, Brendan Martin 2-0, Darragh Kelly, Eoghan Kelly, Stephen Lahart 0-1, Ryan Murray, Kevin Kehoe and Jack O’Donnell.

SUB: Ryan Lonergan

Having lost two of their three matches to date the U/12 Footballers were in action again on Saturday morning and this time the opposition were Carrick Swan. Kilsheelan started well with a point, from a free, from Stephen Lahart. They added a further point from Brendan Martin after nine minutes and just before the break the same player had a further point. On the stroke of half time the Swan had their only point.

In the opening ten minutes of the second half the Carrick side did all the pressing but a Kilsheelan defence led by Edward Carroll and Eoghan Kelly turned them back on numerous occasions while Artjoms in the goal made one outstanding save. The only goal of the match came with five minutes to go when sub Eoghan Flavin drove to the net and almost immediately Brendan Martin had a further point. Swan had the final say with a pointed free but it was Kilsheelan’s day on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-2. Once again they gave a fine all round performance and are now back in contention for a place in the knockout stages.

Scorers were: Brendan Martin 0-3, Eoghan Flavin 1-0 and Stephen Lahart 0-1. Additional players on this occasion were Sean Martin, Kyle O’Connell, Eoghan Flavin and Martin Gibbs.

Having won their opening match, our U/16 Football team went in search of a further brace of points when they were at home to Commercials in the A championship. They dominated the early stages and had points from Alex Harte (2), Sean Ryan, Dean Mulcahy, Bill Maher and Dean again from a long range free. Commercials went on to enjoy a good spell of play and shot a number of points and they could have been on level terms had they been more accurate in front of goal. Bill Maher had a further point and at half time Kilsheelan led by 0-7 to 0-3.

After the interval Commercials reduced the leeway to two points and Kilsheelan looked to be going through a period of turbulence. In the forty fourth minute, the only goal was scored when Adam Hantz delivered the ball to the net. John Kehoe added a further point and a rather pedestrian second half came to a close as Kilsheelan went on to win by 1-8 to 0-5.

TEAM: Colin Gleeson, Tadgh Lonergan, Adrian Mc Guire, David Columby, Ruairi Doyle, Kevin Larkin, Eoin Kehoe, John Kehoe 0-1, Bill Maher 0-2, Kevin Kirwan, Dean Mulcahy 0-2 , Jamie Cronin, Adam Hantz 1-0, Alex Harte 0-2 and Sean Ryan 0-1.

SUB: James Murphy.

12/4: In the U/14 Feile Hurling St Mary’s were Kilsheelan’s opponents. The team played well in the first half even though St Mary’s had several goal chances and eventually got through before the interval to leave the score at the break 1-3 to 0-4 to St Mary’s.

In the second half St Mary’s had two decisive early goals which ensured them of victory on a scoreline of 3-4 to 0-4.
TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Cormac O’Farrell, Sean Ryan, Kevin Kehoe, Martin Gibbs, Eoin Kehoe 0-2, Kevin Guiry, Paul Maher, David Smyth, Patrick O’Donovan, Cian Flavin 0-1, Brendan Martin, Aaron Larkin, John Smyth 0-1 and Riain Connolly.

SUBS: Eoghan Kelly and Edward Carroll.

Well done to Tadgh Lonergan and Eoin Kehoe for winning the Inter Divisional championship last week against West Tipp. This was a fine group of young players who finished very strongly to record a ten point victory for South Tipp.

Our U/16 Football team had a very good win over Ballyporeen last week. Having the bare amount of players these lads gave a very good display and will be hoping to do well in this championship. They were very strong down the middle of the field and the players on the wings all played a crucial part in this victory. Their next game is on this Thursday night (16th) against the favorites Clonmel Commercials.

TEAM: Jamie Cronin, Tadgh Lonergan, David Corcoran, David Columby, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Larkin, Adrian Mc Guire, Bill Maher, Conor Murphy, Kevin Kirwan, John Kehoe, Dean Mulcahy, Sean Ryan, Alex Harte and Ruairi Doyle.

5/4: In the U/12 Football championship Kilsheelan-Kilcash travelled to Monroe to take on the home side. Both sides put on a great display of football and it was very competitive all through. Indeed, it was reminiscent of the many clashes at adult level between those two great rivals down through the years. For those players of tender years they would not be aware of this rivalry, however, tradition dies hard and putting on the Club colours meant alot to the players. For our lads it was a big step up to A level and despite losing by five points they did not let us down. Moyle Rovers opened the scoring with a point. Kilsheelan gave as good as they got but scoring proved to be difficult. Just before the break Brendan Martin put the sides level. On the turnover they went ahead with a goal from Kevin Kehoe. They dominated the next ten minutes, but were unable to pierce an excellent Moyle Rovers defence and this was to prove costly in the end. With about eight minutes left Moyle Rovers hit two goals in quick succession. Undaunted by this setback they went in search of scores and their only reward was a further point by Brendan Martin and Moyle Rovers went on to win by 2-14 to 1-2.

Edward Carroll was outstanding at full back and equally good in that line was Sean Martin. Martin Gibbs ability to read the game and his drive of defence was notable. Brendan Martin and Daire Brennan were excellent at midfield. The attack combined well as a unit but were out of luck in the art of scoring.

TEAM: Artjoms Dulenkovs, Sean Martin, Edward Carroll, Brian Twohig, Aaron Fogarty, Martin Gibbs, Evan Quigley, Brendan Martin 0-2, Daire Brennan, Mark Kehoe, Eoghan Kelly, Stephen Lahart, Chelsea Holden, Kevin Kehoe 1-0 and Darragh Kelly.

SUB: Mark Stokes.

In the U/14 Feile Na Gael Hurling competition Kilsheelan were at home to Moyle Rovers. The home side contributed to an excellent game of hurling and at half time they led by 1-2 to 0-2. In the second half they kept their opponents scoreless while they added a further 1-1 to run out six point winners.

PANEL: Tadgh Lonergan, Sean Ryan, Joe O’Neill, Eric O’Shea, Martin Gibbs, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Guiry, Paul Maher, Cian Flavin, Niall Butler, Kevin Kirwan, Riain Connolly, Shane Brunnock, John Smyth, Paudie O’Donovan and David Smyth.

They now go on to play St Mary’s in the Semi Final also at home possibly this weekend.

29/3: Well done to the County U/16 Hurling team who had a great win over St Brendan’s Killarney. After getting off to a slow start they gradually found their form and once getting the lead they were not going to let it slip. At the end of the game they had two points to spare. Kilsheelan-Kilcash players involved were Adrian Mc Guire, Bill Maher, John Kehoe, Damien Dempsey, Conor Murphy and Kevin Larkin. They will now play St Flannan’s in the Final.

South Tipperary U/16’s travelled to St Finbarr’s in Cork’s ground last weekend but unfortunately had no luck against some strong teams. The Kilsheelan-Kilcash players taking part here were John Kehoe, Kevin Larkin, Alex Harte, Bill Maher, Conor Murphy and Adrian Mc Guire.

The South Tipperary U/14 team were in Thurles last week and came away with a good win over North Tipperary and will go on to meet the West in the Final. Involved here were the following players from Kilsheelan-Kilcash Eoin Kehoe and Tadgh Lonergan.

Well done and best of luck to Niamh Brennan who has made the County U/14 Football panel.

Scor na bPaisti: Once again the Club had very good representation at the Scor South Final held in the GAA Centre on Sunday March 29th. The Club participated in Rince Foirne, Solo Singing, Recitation, Ballad Group, Instrumental Music and Question time.

There was a great attendance from all the local Clubs and a very good night’s entertainment was had by all. At the end of the night we had success in our Recitation with Katy Mullins coming away with 1st prize reciting a piece from “My First Confesssion” by Frank O’Connor.

We also had two very good 2nd placings in our Ballad Group of Kelly Walsh, Naomi Ryan, Aoife O’Loughlin, Aveen O’Neill and Katy Mullins and our Rince Foirne of Martin Gibbs, Brendan Martin, Ryan Murray, Brian Twohig, Naomi Ryan, Kelly Walsh, Aveen O’Neill and Katy Mullins. The rest of the individuals and groups were highly commended by the adjudicators on the night. Well done to Jessica Dawson, Rachel Foyle, Noel Perigoe, Darragh Kelly, Aaron Dempsey, Aaron Fogarty, Sean Martin and Eoghan Kelly.

Katy went forward to represent the South in Cashel on Friday 3rd April in the County Final where she performed exceptionally well and won this competition. In fact, Katy was the only South winner on the night and also made history by being the first person to win in this competition for the Kilsheelan-Kilcash Club. Congratulations Katy and best wishes in the Munster Semi Final on a date to be announced.

Our U12 footballers launched their championship campaign on Saturday morning against Cahir. It was a dry crisp windy March morning and Captain Brendan Martin chose to play against the wind. Kilsheelan won on a score line of 3-7 to 0-3, but this success was founded on great defensive work by our forwards. They all tackled and harried the Cahir backs, hunting in packs and forcing them to hurry there clearances. We had great performance also in the back line and mid field, with some excellent interplay leading to great scores. It was a first game for our Russian goalkeeper, Artjoms Dulenkovs, and he started as he means to finish the season, keeping a clean sheet! He performed extremely well. We also made many little mistakes which will need to be improved upon, but that is for the future. Our next challenge will be Moyle Rovers this Friday in Monroe, one which our squad, if playing to their full potential are more than capable of meeting. The team were very appreciative of the strong encouragement from their loyal contingent of supporters. The following is the squad of

players: Brian Twohig, Ryan Lonergan, Brendan Martin, Artjoms Dulenkovs, Eoghan Kelly, Kyle O’Connell, Evan Quigley, Edward Carroll, Martin Gibbs, Jack O’Donnell, Kevin Kehoe, Daire Brennan, Stephen Lahart, Brian Guiry, Eoghan Flavin, Aaron Fogarty, Darragh Kelly, Chelsea Holden, Ryan Murray, Mark Kehoe, Aaron Dempsey, Sean Martin, Conor Murphy and Mark Stokes.

8/3: In the Final of the U/13 Winter League Kilsheelan-Kilcash came up against a very strong Clonmel Commercials team. After scoring a goal in the first two minutes they came under a lot of pressure and were behind by 1-7 to 1-0 at half time. In the second half they enjoyed a fair share of possession but the forwards were not able to get through the strong Commercial backline and finally went under by 3-12 to 1-3. All the team played well but in particular Kevin Kirwan and Eoin Kehoe stood out.

TEAM: John Smyth, Shane Brunnock, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, David Smyth, Kevin Kirwan, Eric O’Shea, Eoin Kehoe, Paul Maher, Cian Flavin, Tadgh Lonergan, Eoghan Kelly, Conor O’Farrell, Aaron Larkin and Riain Connolly.

SUBS: Kevin Kehoe, Niall Murphy and Niall Butler.

All who attended the Table Quiz last Friday night enjoyed the evening. We were delighted with the crowd and the lead changed a few times during the night with the eventual winners emerging in Ciaran & Una Cosgrave, Kevin Kelly and Noel Murphy and the runners up of Jean & Peter O’Connell and Roger Doyle. A sincere thank you to Ann Robinson for the use of her premises, to all who provided raffle prizes, refreshments, to those who helped in any way and to you for coming along and making it a pleasant occasion.

It is a requirement that all Clubs appoint a Coaching Officer to liaise with the various teams and Mentors. We are now in the process of doing so and we would like to hear from persons interested in this position from within our Club. Please contact any Club Officer as soon as possible.

An invitation to join the Juvenile Club: Spring is in the air and the Juvenile GAA plan to restart our activities. We are a small club competing with large towns, but are well capable of performing above expectation. We want to maximise participation and develop our understanding of children’s needs. We recognise that nurture is as important as nature and good training improves performance. U6 to U11 is the foundation on which success is built and we focus on skills with a large emphasis on FUN, with lots of positive feedback.

As we advance through the years we introduce children to tactical awareness and instil the value of team ship V individualism.  We follow over 10 years a process of: Play to Learn, Learn to Compete, Compete to Win.

We try to improve the children’s self reflection, self awareness and increase responsibility as the year’s progress. Team mentors can, as children advance, be mentors to children in times of need. Supporting our children through the medium of sport instils in them a strong sense of community which will benefit everybody in our community long after they have played their last game for Kilsheelan-Kilcash.

If your child is not participating or stopped or you are new to the community, please return to our club and help us develop a better Club and community. The Coaches can be contacted and are listed below with numbers and everyone is welcome.
