13/12: Kilsheelan-Kilcash Calendar now on sale. This is an ideal Christmas Stocking filler or gift for grand-parents. Featuring 95% plus of children who played with us during the year. Available for €10. Please text name and number required to your child’s coach, also available in Maher’s shop, from Kevin Kelly, Noel Murphy and Liam Stokes.

6/12: In the Munster Colleges U/15”A” Football Final Clonmel High School travelled to Mallow to take on an honours laden St Brendans Killarney side. Taking on any Kerry side would mean carrying the underdogs tag. Unnerved by the concession of an early goal the local side went on to tear the form book to shreds and won by nine points. Playing a major role in this victory was full back Eoin Kehoe and half forward Kevin Kirwan who scored three points. Tadgh Lonergan was also on the panel.

The customary draw for 5 Christmas Hampers amongst the County Draw subscribers took place and the lucky winners were; Mike Martin, John Geraghty, Terry O’Brien, John Ryan and Breda O’Neill. Congrats.

Still wondering what to buy that GAA enthusiast in your life for Christmas – well you can solve the problem by purchasing a copy of the South Board History. Anything you want to know about South Board affairs since its foundation can be found in this publication. Copies can be had both in hard back and paper back from the Club Secretary.

Congratulations to John Tobin, a loyal supporter of the Club, for being chosen as Volunteer of the year recently.

29/11: The Annual General Meeting of the Senior Club took place on Friday night last. While the attendance should be much larger for such an important event, nevertheless, it was bigger than recent years.

With no trophies on the table, one would have to say, that it fairly reflected the moderate year we had. The Secretary gave his report on the year’s activities. The Minor hurling team gave a good account of themselves in the “B” grade despite a large number of U/16’s on the team. Also in the “B” grade the U/21 team joined with Marlfield and lost out in the second round. The Junior A and B teams struggled and never looked like reaching the knockout stages. In Football we didn’t have enough players to compete in the Minor championship. The U/21 and Junior teams never looked like making much progress. Our biggest hope of a Title rested with the Intermediate team. They defeated all comers in the League stages. Despite losing their last match they reached the Semi Final. Their opponents on this occasion were Ballybacon. After a disastrous start the team put on a fine second half performance but lost out by a point. A heated debate followed when there was stinging criticism of Club Officers for allowing so many matches to be played on our pitch during bad weather resulting in our own teams not being able to train properly. One would have to say that those Officers were in a no win situation trying to please the many teams that want to use it. Trying to promote our games with so many attractions for our youth is an ongoing challenge, however, two off field happenings in recent weeks could have major implications for us. Following a visit from Croke Park facilitators, a Development Group was set up with a remit to produce a blueprint for the future. Many of their recommendations are eye catching – let’s hope they can be put in place with great benefit to the Club.

The over use of our pitch is well documented and the need for a second pitch is a must. This has now materialised with the acquisition of some land at the western end of our pitch. When this is developed let’s hope we can reap the rewards. In future there will be two types of membership in the Club. Full Membership costing €40 this year and Youth Membership (U/18) which will cost €25.

Election of Officers then took place: Hon Presidents: Tom Larkin, Billy Stokes, Jim Morrissey, Fr Bill Carey PP and Fr James O’Donoghue CC. Chairman: Jerry Kehoe, Vice Chairmen: Dan O’Connor and David Power, Secretary & PRO: James Holohan, Treasurer & Co Draw Co-ordinator: Michael Dempsey. Committee: Tommy Ryan, Peter O’Connell, Jim Cahill, Peter Moore, Keith O’Brien, Jim Healy, Brian Connolly, Johnny Fitzpatrick, Carol Gibbs, Liam Bowe, Kevin Kelly and Noel Murphy. Co Board rep: James Holohan and Co Football Board Rep: David Power.

Selectors; Junior “A” Hurling: J J Keyes, John Geraghty, Eamon Corcoran, Davy Keyes and Denis Mc Carthy, Intermediate Football: Martin Ormonde, Liam Murphy and Franny Kelly. Minor (both codes): Liam Corcoran, Jimmy Ryan, Tommy Harvey and John Ryan, U/21 (both codes): Dan O’Connor, Jim Healy, Michael O’Loughlin, Keith Robinson and Jason Fogarty.

John Donovan, one of our outstanding players of the past, is presently resident in St Anthonys in Clonmel. On Saturday evening last a concert was organised in the dayroom as a tribute to John which many of his friends, neighbours and GAA acquaintances attended. MC for the occasion was Sean Nugent who went on to give an account of John’s activities on the playing field, his involvement with many other Clubs as a Trainer, his exploits in walking races which were very popular in the ‘60s. He showed his versatility by playing a major role in helping Tipperary to win their first ever football Title. Music was provided by Billy Stokes, Michael Perigoe and Benny O’Connell with contributions also from others in attendance. A very pleasant afternoon was had by all.

22/11: The Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday night (27th) at 7.30pm. All members who have provided their email addresses will have received the report for perusal prior to the

We would ask that any new residents of the Parish might consider coming along also as new members are most welcome. If members would like a copy of the Secretarys Report prior to the AGM please forward your email address to jbh1@eircom.net. We extend our sympathy to the Larkin Family on the recent death of Anne’s mother Mrs Delahunty. May her soul rest in peace.

8/11: In the County Draw which took place on Friday night last, Regina Carroll won €5,000 in the Weekly Lotto and James Holohan won €200 as the promoter. Billy Stokes also won €200 in the draw. Congrats to all.

1/11: We are presently trying to build up a Data base of our Members. This will enable us to communicate any relevant information via email i.e. Annual Report prior to the AGM which will be held on November 27th.  We would appreciate therefore if any members would forward their email address to jbh1@eircom.net or to facilitate this.

Vodafone Ireland have launched a new initiative to provide funds to GAA Clubs around the country whereby any of our Club Members or supporters who are customers of Vodafone Ireland can have 5% of their mobile phone, pay monthly bill or top up donated to their Club at no extra cost to them. This will go to the customers nominated GAA Club once the Club and customer have registered with the Club. There is no additional cost to Vodafone customers under the offer and the funds will be paid directly to the nominated Club. If you would like to know more please contact Peter O’Connell at 086 0840136. Peter is the Club’s nominated official for co-ordinating and registering persons for this scheme.

Whenever a player puts on the Club jersey it is nice to have it freshly laundered. Credit for this must go to Mary Larkin who has been doing this task for a number of years and has given us a top class service. Mary has decided to give it a break and we say a very sincere “thank you” to her.

25/10: Congratulations to Bill Maher who was selected as Clonmel High Schools Player of the Year.

One could say that he was Mullinahone’s loss and Kilsheelan’s gain. His father Ollie starred with Mullinahone in his youth. Circumstances were to leave him residing in Kilsheelan. Bill, along with his brother Paul learned their hurling skills at the local National School. Bill went on to become a valued member of our Juvenile teams and recently he lined out for the Club in the South U/16”A” Hurling Final. Since going to the High School he has starred in both hurling and football and plays in the half back line. Well done Bill.

It seems to be all happening for Kilkenny man Tommy Walshe. He has another All Ireland Medal in his pocket together with an all Star Award and Hurler of the Year Award. He has now gone on to show his versatility as he won our Score Prediction Competition and walked away with 1st Prize on €1,000. In 2nd place was David Kenneally Kilcash, 3rd Tony Mc Carthy and 4th David Clancy both from Clonmel. We congratulate the winners and thank everyone who supported this annual fundraiser. A particular thanks to Keith and Maeve for all their input.

We extend our sympathy to the Lundon Family Waterford on the death of Liam. His son Tom was a prominent member of our Club until his employment took him to Dublin.

18/10: The Juvenile Club will hold a  Fun Casino Night in Ballypatrick Sports Club on Saturday 24th October at 9pm. Entry to this premier event is €10 for a set of chips and a complimentary first drink (these chips are not of the salt and vinegar variety!!!). Play and lose these chips @ Black Jack, Roulette, Texas Hold’em. You can purchase further sets of Chips for €2 and just carry on playing! Great prizes for winners and those less fortunate. Wheel of Fortune will spin throughout the night with novel and valuable prizes! Further drinks complimentary on entering a special draw costing €3 a ticket. Specially trained local celebrities will be your Croupiers, following an intensive one night crash course!!

A & J Cabs Kilsheelan will provide transport, ring 087 2424425, to co-ordinate bus/ people carrier to and from the venue. You don’t need to be a high roller, so bring your friends and play the odds, just for fun. This is one night when the losers will have as much fun as the winners.

11/10: Congratulations to Seamus Norris who is our latest winner in the County Draw when he won €200.

As the year on the playing fields is now concluded – we must focus forward on the year ahead. In this regard we appeal to anyone interested in becoming involved in team management in any capacity to get in touch with Jerry or James as soon as possible. We would like to advise all intending to train or coach players in any grade or code that they will have to complete a Coaching Course and it is expected that these will be available in November. We will keep you informed of developments.

21/9: Congratulations to Gertie Prendergast Ballinaraha who won €5,000 in the recent County GAA Draw. It is great to have a winner and we hope you enjoy it Gertie. The final Golden Goal for this year was scored in the 11th minute in the All Ireland Football Final. Thanks to all of you who supported it throughout the Summer.

We extend our sympathy to the Coughlan Family on the death of Mick Coughlan. His son Nicky played for many years with the Club while his grandson Ian is now carrying on the tradition. Go ndeana Dia Trocaire air.

13/9: Our Intermediate Football team lost out to Ballyporeen by the narrowest of margins and the result brings the curtain down on our Senior Club’s activity for this year.

6/9: The famine is over, or should one say, that the long wait is no more. Gaelic games have been an integral part of life in Kilsheelan-Kilcash since its foundation. During that time quite a number of County Football Titles were annexed but a Hurling Title, at any grade, always eluded us. This was all to change in Semple Stadium on Saturday last when our U/12 team had a well deserved win over Rockwell Rovers in the “B” Final. See Match Report elsewhere.

The same panel of players lost the South “A” Football Final after a replay. They went on to show their versatility with the hurley by beating all comers in the Division. In the County Final they showed fierce determination from the opening whistle. An early goal settled them and despite a determined Rockwell effort our lads never looked like losing.

Goalkeeper Stephen Lahart conceded no goals in the last three matches. He had a very sound full back line to protect him. Martin Gibbs led by example as Captain and cleared his lines time and again while Kyle O’Connell and Brian Guiry never put a foot wrong. Further afield many of Rockwell’s promising attacks perished when confronted by Eoghan Flavin, Mark Kehoe and Evan Quigley. Once again Brendan Martin starred at midfield while Eoghan Kelly’s work rate was a major plus and it was he who secured the opening score. Half forwards Kevin Kehoe, Daire Brennan and Sean Martin put the losers defence under lots of pressure. Upfront Edward Carroll’s two goals were priceless. Completing the team were Brian Twohig and Darragh Kelly and they also had major roles to play. Throughout the campaign subs Ryan Lonergan, Aaron Fogarty, Chelsea Holden, Luke Kiely, Mark Stokes, Conor Murphy, Frank Mallekoute, Jack O’Donnell and Aaron Dempsey also got their chances to show their talents.

Well done also to the backroom team of Kevin Kelly, Liam Stokes, Mike Martin, Carol Gibbs, Jim Healy and Keith O’Brien. One must commend the County Board for putting on the A, B and C Finals on the one day at the Field of Legends. For those of tender years it was a great opportunity to play on the big stage. Congratulations to all. They brought honour to themselves, their families and their Club. It was great to see so many from the parish present and those who stayed away were the biggest losers as they missed history being written. We also congratulate Moyle Rovers on winning the “A” Final thus making it a double for the South Division.

The U/14 Hurling team travelled to Carrick to take on Fethard. The prize for the winners was a place in the South Final. A lot of work has been put into this team and confidence was high that they would progress. Incessant rain throughout the day made conditions difficult, however, that did not deter the contestants.

Kilsheelan took a little time to settle into the game as Fethard had a number of early wides. Once Kilsheelan got their opening goal they were into their stride and began to dominate all over the field and led at half time by 3-8 to 0-1.

In the second half Fethard struck with two goals but each time Kilsheelan responded positively and gradually extended their lead. At the final whistle they were leading by 5-9 to 2-1.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Eric O’Shea, Joe O’Neill, Sean Ryan, Martin Gibbs, Kevin Guiry, David Smyth 0-1, Eoin Kehoe 1-5, Paul Maher 1-1, Cian Flavin 1-2, Kevin Kirwan, Riain Connolly 1-0, Paudie O’Donovan, John Smyth 1-0 and Niall Butler.

SUBS: Aaron Larkin, Eoghan Kelly, Conor O’Farrell, Kevin Kehoe and Shane Brunnock,

Last week’s winning minute in the Golden Goal was the 63rd.

We got a great response to the “Guess the Score” competition on the All Ireland Final. Congratulations to the winner Shane O’Connor from Thomastown who will receive €300. Thanks to everyone who sold cards or bought lines.

Congrats to the Tipperary hurling team for their magnificent display last Sunday – one wonders had those goal chances been taken – would the outcome be different.  The match once again demonstrated that hurling has no equal when it’s played at its very best. While it ended in disappointment we must not forget the great entertainment the team gave us over the last number of months

30/8: As one would expect demand far exceeded our allocation of tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final. Unfortunately we will not be able to meet everybody’s needs but we will try to be as fair as possible. Tickets will be distributed at the Clubhouse on Thursday at 7.30pm. Any tickets uncollected on the night will be redistributed to those on the waiting list.

Meanwhile we wish Tipperary every success on Sunday and hope all our supporters will enjoy the game and travel safely.

This weeks Golden Goal was scored in the 4th minute. Next week it will be on the All Ireland Hurling Final. All those with “Guess the Score” cards should please return them before Saturday to Jerry, James or Michael – Cards not returned by that date will be declared invalid.

23/8: Presently the Club is also running a “Guess the Score” on the All Ireland Final. For just €2 you can make your forecast and the lucky person with the correct score will win €300. For just €2 this could be a great investment!!! If you would like to sell a card please contact the Secretary.

The Score Prediction has again been updated and David Kenneally has stormed into a seven point lead but Tommy Walshe and Tony Mc Carthy are having a battle for 2nd place at the moment but as there are a number of events still to go – its anyone’s prize.

One of the biggest crowds ever to attend a match in Kilsheelan was seen on Sunday evening last for the South Hurling Final. Lots of work had to be attended to during the week to ensure all would be right on the big day. Thankfully we were blessed with a fine evening and a wonderful double header. We say a sincere “thank you” to all in the Club who helping to prepare the venue or indeed who made themselves available on the day.

In last week’s notes we stated in error that Mike Martin, a selector with the victorious U12 Hurling team, was from Mayo. With all due respect to Mayo, one wonders if a man from that County was involved in hurling down here might it necessitate a steward’s inquiry!! – reliable sources tell us he is in fact a Tribesman. Sorry about that Mike.

All Ireland Tickets: The deadline has past for ordering tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final. As one would expect demand far exceeds supply. For previous games those who ordered multiple tickets were catered for but on this occasion we will not be able to accommodate everybody. It is hoped to distribute them at the Clubhouse on Thursday 3rd September – for up to date info check website. With the big day fast approaching excitement is growing by the hour. To add further colour and fanfare to the occasion now is the time to deck the parish in Blue & Gold.

16/8: Next Sunday evening Kilsheelan will stage a double header beginning with the U/21”A” Hurling Final at 5.15 between Ballingarry and Moyle Rovers. This will be followed by the eagerly awaited South Senior Hurling Final between Killenaule and Mullinahone. To ensure the efficient running of this event, we need all our committee, players etc available to assist the smooth running of the fixture. Please assemble at 4.30pm

The latest Golden Goal winner was Jean O’Connell – well done. Next week’s competition will be based on the Cork V Tyrone Football Semi Final. The lucky moment last week was the 5th minute.

We extend our sympathy to the Curry Family Rathgormack on the recent death of their mother. They have facilitated us on a number of occasions when we needed them in the sportsfield.

Congrats to Tipperary on their great victory on Sunday last. Just one observation – Did you notice that three of our players scored 5-10 and all three were substituted!!!

Upwards of 100 people from the Club went to the match. There was some criticism at the cost of tickets. While it could be justified there is another way of looking at it. The GAA is very much family orientated, Throughout the Munster championship and All Ireland Semi Finals, children were able to enter the Stand accompanied by a parent for just €5 and many also availed of the Group Adult Pass to the Davin Stand for just €10 each. It was obvious on Sunday last that many Clubs availed of this as the area was well populated.

9/8: The Intermediate Football team lost their unbeaten record when defeated by Moyle Rovers by one point in their last match of the group stages. Despite this setback they are through to the Semi Finals. The target for this team is to win the County Title for the first time. To realise this, major improvement is necessary, and we hope our mentors will get the necessary co-operation to achieve this goal.

Our Junior “A” Hurling team finished their campaign when they drew with Newcastle last week. At one stage they led by eight points and looked set for an easy win. However, Newcastle fought back and forced a draw. This was a disappointing end as a spot in the Quarter Finals would have been a realistic target. Well done to our mentors Sean Nugent and Michael Ryan whose input would have merited better results.

Anyone who still requires tickets for Sunday’s All Ireland Semi Final can call to the GAA Centre on Thursday between 8pm and 9 pm.

The Golden Goal last week was scored in the 5th minute. This week the competition is on the Tipp V Limerick All Ireland Semi Final.

Congratulations to Noel Ryan, a member of our Hurling and Football teams, who married Dawn White during the week. We wish them both every happiness in their future life together.

2/8: The Intermediate Football team will play their last game in the group stages this Sunday evening in Carrick where they take on Moyle Rovers at 7pm.

26/7: Our Junior “B” Footballers completed their championship campaign but were defeated by Grangemockler on a scoreline of 2-5 to 0-9. While they did not reach the knockout stages we had a very enthuastic bunch of players over the series, however, a little more attention to training might have brought better results. Well done to all.

TEAM: Roger Doyle, Jason Fogarty, Eddie O’Connell, Paul Kennedy, Richard Crotty, Shane Prendergast, Ian Coughlan 0-2, Oisin O’Cuinneagain, Donnchadh Corcoran, Stephen Cloona, Damien Mc Carthy 0-4, Damien Cahill 0-1, Barry Cloona 0-1, Michael Ryan and Brian Connolly 0-1.

SUBS: Peter O’Connell for Richard Crotty, Shane Columby for Barry Cloona, Keith Flynn for Brian Connolly and Miceal Corcoran for Stephen Cloona.

In their fifth match of the campaign the Intermediate Football team maintained their 100% record with a 2-11 to 0-6 win over Commercials. While the scoreline might look decisive this was far from a vintage performance. There is one remaining match against Moyle Rovers and regardless of the outcome they are through to the knockout stages. The Junior Hurling team have one match left in the group stages of the “A” competition. They play Newcastle on Wednesday 6th August. The Junior “B” Hurling team played their final match on Wednesday 29th against St Mary’s. The Kilsheelan-Marlfield U/21 Hurling combination were defeated by seven points against Ballybacon-Grange.

The Minor Hurlers are through to the Quarter Finals of the “B” championship.

Last weeks Golden moment was the 68th and this week’s competition will be based on the Dublin V Kerry clash.

19/7: In the Junior “B” Football championship Kilsheelan travelled to Ardfinnan to take on Ballyporeen. A win was essential if we were to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages. Kilsheelan missed lots of chances and scored 1-9 to Ballyporeen’s 2-6 as the game ended in a draw.

In the Junior “B” Hurling Kilsheelan went into this game at Clonmel seeking their first victory and a mathematical chance of reaching the knockout stages. They were the better side throughout and had an outstanding defender in Jason Fogarty. Despite this scores were very close which kept it interesting to the end. Kilsheelan led at half time by 0-5 to 0-3. They received a boost midway through the second half when veteran Michael Ryan shot the games only goal as they went on to win by 1-9 to 0-9.

TEAM: Robert Henebry, Shane Columby, Dan O’Connor, Michael Dempsey, Jason Fogarty 0-2, Shane Prendergast, Paul Kennedy, Shane Corcoran, Senan O’Halloran 0-1, Donnchadh Corcoran, Adrian Walsh 0-1, John Nolan 0-1, Kevin O’Donovan, Sean Nugent 0-4 and Michael Ryan 1-0.

SUBS: Peter O’Connell and Miceal Corcoran.

Congrats to Sonny Kennedy Jubilee Terrace who won €500 in this month’s County Draw. Well done to Jim Murphy and Bridget Holohan who were recent winners of the Golden goal. Last week’s minute was the 11th and this week the competition will be based on the Galway V Waterford Hurling Qualifier.

The death took place recently of Michael Bolger in Manchester. He was a native of Ninemilehouse and brother of Kilsheelan resident Seamus. In his youth Michael was a very promising footballer. He had a great turn of speed and played in defence. In 1957, together with a number of other Grangemockler players, he played Minor Football for Kilsheelan under a gentleman’s agreement. In the following year he lined out for Kilsheelan with his Grangemockler teammates in the Senior Football championship. Later still when Grangemockler went on to win South and County Titles in Junior Football he played no small part in bringing honours to his native parish. We extend our sympathy to his family.

Congrats to local business man, GAA supporter and mentor on reaching the BIG FIVE 0, he is so shy that he has not been seen around the village all week!!! – hope you enjoyed the holidays.

12/7: Having lost to Swan in the opening round of the Minor Hurling championship we got back on the winning trail with a three point win over St Patrick’s. In the Junior “B” Football championship we had an easy win over Fr Sheehy’s.

In the opening match of the U/16 “A” championship away to Killenaule, Kilsheelan put up a very good performance and had an easy win over the home side.

TEAM: Tadgh Lonergan, Kevin Guiry, David Corcoran, David Columby, Eoin Kehoe, Kevin Larkin, Ruairi Doyle, Bill Maher, Dean Mulcahy, Kevin Kirwan, John Kehoe, Jamie Cronin, William Lonergan, Alex Harte and Colin Gleeson.

SUBS: Paul Maher and Cian Flavin.

All these games are covered in greater detail on the Club Website www.kilsheelankilcash.tipperary.gaa.ie

The Golden minute in the Munster Final was the 6th. This week the competition will be based on the Tyrone V Antrim Ulster Football Final.

Congrats to our hurlers on retaining their Munster Title on Sunday last. It was also a day in the sun (and rain) for our own Brendan Martin who took part in the Primary Game. Many of his team-mates were also present. The Club were one of a number who availed of a group pass for a nominal sum. We often hear that admission prices are excessive in these recessionary times. However, we must compliment the powers that be for this initiative. It helps to promote the game amongst our young players and one hopes that some of them will emulate them in the future.

The death last weekend of Mick Strappe brought back memories of his many visits to Kilsheelan. Together with his fellow journalist the late Ted Dillon, he was a regular at our pitch to cover matches over a long period for the Nationalist. In retirement he continued in this role on a smaller scale and was a very respected figure. We extend our sympathy to his family.

2/7: Well done to our Intermediate Football team who had a 2-14 to 1-5 win over Grangemockler and are now through to the knockout stages.

The Junior Hurling team lost by a three point margin to Ballybacon-Grange. This was a match we left behind. Leading by six points ten minutes into the second half, goal chances went abegging. Ballybacon regained the initiative and we had no answer to them.

TEAM: Jason Fogarty, Shane Columby, Dan O’Connor, Eoin Twohig, Robert Hennebry, Shane Prendergast, Paul Kennedy, Shane Corcoran, Donnchadh Corcoran, John Nolan, Adrian Walsh 0-2, Michael Geraghty, Sean Nugent 2-3, Joe Ryan 2-1 and Michael Ryan 0-1.

Keith O’Brien’s profile as a referee continues on the up and up. Recently he refereed the Munster Junior Football Final between Cork and Clare in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. His umpires were Peter O’Connell, Tommy Lonergan, David Power and Nicky Coughlan.

Congrats to Mary Corbett Gortbrack who won €200 in the weekly County Draw recently. Congrats to Mark Fitzgerald Carrick On Suir who won the Golden Goal for the second time this year. Last week’s lucky minute was the 15th. This week the competition will be based on the Tipp V Waterford eagerly awaited Munster Final clash.

In normal circumstances we would never comment on another Club’s notes. However, something appeared in last week’s edition that cannot be overlooked without stating the facts. One of our players sought a transfer to another Club and provided a fictitious address to make his request look legitimate. The player concerned continues to reside at his home address and not having moved to Carrick as appeared in last week’s issue. This is an area that the powers that be would need to revisit. This would seem to indicate that a player can live at his home address and play with whatever Club he chooses.

28/6: Congrats to Mark Fitzgerald, Carrick On Suir and Liam Larkin as the latest winners of the Golden Goal. Last week the winning minute was the 27th. This week’s competition will be based on the Cork V Limerick game.

How are you doing in the Score Prediction? Tony Mc Carthy is leading the field after the May update on 86 points with his nearest rival on 73. Check www.kilsheelankilcash.tipperary.gaa.ie for your score.

Once again our Club appreciate very much the generosity of our County Draw subscribers. For obvious reasons this time we feared the numbers would be down. While we did lose a few we also picked up some new members. Thanks again. On the Draw itself we had one winner of €200 and we congratulate former Kilsheelan player Timmy O’Connor from Mullinahone.

The Tipperary Minor Football team line out in the Munster Final on Sunday next, best of luck to David Power Manager and Christy Ryan physical trainer.

In the Junior B Football championship our side came up against a much stronger Clonmel Og team. Three second half goals by Declan O’Brien was not enough as we lost by 1-15 to 3-4.

In the first round of the Minor Hurling championship we fielded a large number of U/16 players. They led for a large portion of the game but Carrick Swan ran out eight point winners at the end.

Members who require tickets for the Munster Hurling Final should give their name to the Secretary at 6133270 not later than this Sunday 5th July. All tickets will be distributed in the Clubhouse on Tuesday 7th July at 7.30pm.

Masterclass 2009: Congratulations to Ryan Lonergan who was lucky enough to come out first in the draw to train with the Masterclass of 2009. On Saturday 27th June he travelled to Semple Stadium to the “Field of Legends” to train with Eoin Kelly, Noel Mc Grath, Shane Mc Grath, Gerry Kennedy and many more. He had training in both hurling and football and thoroughly enjoyed every second of the experience. He also met Liam Sheedy and Johnny Evans and our own celeb Seamus Roche. A great day was had by Ryan, his family and cousin Robert.

21/6: In the second round of the Junior “B” Hurling championship and understrength Kilsheelan lost to Killenaule by 1-16 to 1-8. Following their football exploits our U/12’s showed that they are equally versatile with the hurley in their hands. Last week they took on Mullinahone in the opening round of the championship. From an early stage they were clearly the better side and went on to win comprehensively.

TEAM: Stephen Lahart, Brian Guiry, Martin Gibbs, Edward Carroll, Eoghan Flavin, Daire Brennan, Mark Kehoe, Kevin Kehoe, Eoghan Kelly, Darragh Kelly, Brendan Martin, Ivan Quigley, Sean Martin, Brian Twohig and Kyle O’Connell.

SUBS: Ryan Lonergan, Chelsea Holden, Conor Murphy and Luke Kiely.

On Saturday last the team travelled to Cahir to take on the home side. Once again they put down an early marker with a number of goals. For the remainder of the game they never looked likely to be overtaken and went on to win by 4-5 to 0-4.

Congrats to Mark Fitzgerald, Carrick On Suir as the latest winner of the Golden Goal. Last week the winning minute was the 8th. This week’s competition will be based on the Dublin V Westmeath game.

21/6: KILCASH N.S. CUMANN NA MBUNSCOIL 2009: Once again all roads led to Semple Stadium in Thurles on Wednesday last June 17th when our team from the school lined out against a team from Aglish near Nenagh in the County Final of the Cumann Na mBunscoil Roinn G. After reaching the same stage last year, where we came away runners up, the team was more determined to make amends and to come away as winners in this competition and bring the double. The school had already won the Football Final before Christmas for the first time ever in nearly 15 years. On the morning of the match the weather was not in our favour as the rain from the pervious night and that morning was continuous and one wondered if the elements would allow any match to be played. However, when the children arrived to school the bus was ready to take them to Thurles. Someone was definitely praying because by the time they reached Thurles the day was brightening up. The team and their supporters were led into the stadium. They were brought to dressing room No 5  which was the dressing room for the Limerick team on the previous Sunday – would that be a good omen!! The game was at 11.30 so when the team was ready their trainer Liam O Dwyer gave them words of encouragement to make sure that the team firstly would enjoy the occasion and go out and play to the best of their ability regardless of the outcome.

The team was as follows: Martin Gibbs in goal, backs were Aaron Fogarty and Darragh Kelly, mid field Brendan Martin and Eoghan Kelly and the forwards Brian Twohig and Sean Martin. Even after the rain that fell during the previous twelve hours the pitch in Semple was perfect for the match. Brian Twohig as captain won the toss and elected to play with the wind.  From the outset of the game the overall play of the team was impressive to watch with all the team displaying their hurling skills. It is a credit to their coach Liam and Larry Flynn Principal the way the boys read the game and even though Aglish also had the hurling they did not seem to gel like the Kilcash team.  From the first puck out Martin took control of the back line acting as an extra back with Aaron and Darragh. Martin’s puck out was reaching the forward line which was putting pressure on the Aglish backs. Brendan and Eoghan were busy in the midfield and it showed on the scoreboard with Brendan getting 1-4 and Eoghan two points in the first half and then we had Brian and Sean who kept their opponents very busy during the match. The score at half time was Kilcash 1-6 to Aglish 0-0.

When the match resumed the team continued in the same fashion and even though the scoring was not as high in the second half they still fought for every ball and defended any danger that came their way with Martin making three vital saves that could have changed the game. Further points from Brendan and Brian in the second half sealed our victory and when the final whistle blew Kilcash came away winners with a score line of 1-12 to 0-3. A great roar erupted from the stands by the children and the supporters knowing that history was being made. At the presentation by Brian Boyle, the captain Brian Twohig in his speech thanked his team, the subs who had played during the year, coach Liam O Dwyer, teacher Mr Flynn and of course the parents for driving and giving such great support to the team. Also thanks to the extra supporters who had travelled on the day. He also thanked Aglish for a good game and wished them well for the coming year. After plenty of photographs the children were brought to Supermacs for their treat.

On the following morning a surprise visit was made by Tipperary’s Eoin Kelly who presented the team with two sets of medals. The Roinn H Football medals which they had won before Christmas  and the Roinn G Hurling medals. Eoin encouraged all the team members to practise their skills even  when they were not on the practise pitch. Eoin took questions from the school children and before he left they wished him and his team the very best in Sunday’s match against Clare. A good ending to a great year.

14/6: Congrats to Ann Roche who is the first winner of the Golden Goal this year. Last weekends Golden minute was the 37th on the Limerick V Waterford game. This week the competition will be based on the Tipp V Clare game.

7/6: Members who require tickets for the Tipp V Clare game on 21st June please give your names to the Secretary at 6133270 not later than Sunday 14th June. Tickets can be collected from the Secretary by arrangement.

The Golden Goal last week was scored in the 12th minute in the Cork V Kerry and this weekend it will be based on the Waterford V Limerick game in Thurles.

31/5: Our Junior Hurling team got their campaign off to a good start with a three point victory over Ballylooby-Castlegrace. Further progress will require major improvement all round. The Intermediate Football team upped their performance in their most recent result when defeating Carrick Swan by eight points – See Reports on both matches in sports pages.

People have been asking – Are we doing any Golden Goal this year? Yes indeed we are and it begins this weekend on the Cork V Kerry Football clash. Your chance to win €50 for an input of just €2.

To keep up to date with Club fixtures, match reports, ticket arrangements, Score Prediction and Golden Goal winners etc etc please log on to www.kilsheelankilcash.tipperary.gaa.ie.

24/5: The Junior A Hurling team will commence their campaign at 6pm in Ned Hall Park against Ballylooby-Castlegrace on this Wednesday (27th).

In the Rockwell College Blitz, Clonmel High School were one of 16 teams taking part and in the Final they defeated Rockwell. Kilsheelan players taking part were Kevin Kirwan (Capt), Kevin Guiry, Tadgh Lonergan and Eoin Kehoe who was presented with a jersey as he was chosen as Player of the Tournament.

Congrats to David Power who managed the Tipp Minor Footballers as the side reached the Munster Final and not forgetting Christy Ryan who was the Physical Trainer. Best of luck to Paul Maher who will be on the Primary Game team on May 31st and well done to Niamh Brennan who represented Tipp last Sunday in Thurles.

With regard to La Na gClub we stated in last week’s notes that Powerstown Ceoltas provided the music when in fact it was Club Ceol Cluain Meala. We apologise for this error and thank them once again.

17/5: Any members who require tickets for the Tipp V Cork Munster Hurling match on 31st May must have their names with the Secretary at 33270 not later than Sunday 24th May. Tickets will be distributed on Wednesday night (27th) in the Clubhouse at 9pm sharp. Tickets ordered and not collected will be returned to the Board.

10/5: Our Intermediate Football team made it two wins out of two with a 0-9 to 0-7 victory over Fr Sheehy’s. They started well and quickly had four points on the board. However, they were unable to maintain this tempo. A vast improvement will be needed for the more severe tests later and top of the agenda will be to improve their shooting in front of goal.

La Na gClub: Has come and gone and should remain a pleasant memory for all who attended on a sun splashed afternoon. The day began with Mass offered in both Churches with a GAA input. We thank our Priests for their co-operation and their well chosen words. The Parade from the village to the field led by some local musicians and an enthuastic group of young children and older members was a very colourful affair with everyone sporting the Club colours. Club President Billy Stokes addressed the gathering with a brief history and some encouraging words for the future. A Symbolic Tree was then planted by Club Chairman Jerry Kehoe. A time capsule with appropriate items and memorabilia will be sealed and stored in our premises and will not to be opened until Wednesday 10th May 2034. We were delighted that so many came along to enjoy the wonderful children’s mini games and the Ladies Football match in which the Parents defeated the younger set – well done mums!! There was also an interesting Photographic Exhibition all afternoon in the Clubhouse. Music was provided by Powerstown Ceoltas and some Scor Na bPaisti participants also entertained us including Katy Mullins who has the honour this year of being the first Kilsheelan representative to bring a County Title honours to the Club in this competition. While the BBQ proved very popular there was also tea and light refreshments for everyone. So many people helped out on the day so we will just say a big “thank you” to you all and also to all who joined us for our very special celebrations.

3/5: Remember this Sunday is La Na gClub and we invite one and all to the Sportsfield for an afternoon of activity commencing at 2pm with a parade to the pitch. This is very much a family day and we want to see everyone from the joint parishes joining in. From 2.30 to 3.30 there will be Mini games for our Juveniles. From 3.30 on there will be Adult games and the ladies will not be forgotten either. This will be followed by a BBQ. Throughout the afternoon there will a Photographic Exhibition in the Clubhouse. The Club is leaving no stone unturned to make this day a success and we want to see you there.  Mass in Kilcash at 10am and Gambonsfield at 11am on Sunday will be offered in honour of the occasion and will have a GAA input. For more details please check www.kilsheelankilcash.tipperary.gaa.ie.

The Intermediate Football team played their opening championship match against Ballyporeen. With a number of changes from last years team there was no real guide to form. They were a point in arrears at half time. A good second half display resulted in a 2-9 to 0-10 victory for them.

The Table Quiz run by the Club in Robinsons on Friday night last had 15 tables taking part and it proved a very enjoyable night. The scores were close all through and a tie breaker looked a possibility before the Tobin Family Kilnoracy emerged winners by the minimum. The runners up were Marianne Phillips, Sasha Maxwell, Edwina Newport and Terry Cunningham. Thanks to all who came along and especially to those who provided an array of raffle prizes.

Best Wishes for a speedy recovery to former player and mentor John Donovan who is presently hospitalized. Good wishes also to Donnacha Lonergan who is recovering from an operation and we hope to see you back on the playing fields in the short term.

Once again it’s time for the new County Draw to commence. The income from this source is vital for the day to day running of the Club. The incentive for us is that from each sale of €100, €50 comes back to the Club. The people of the Parish have been very generous to us over the years and we are indebted to you for that support. Our promoters are now “doing the rounds” and we hope that you will continue to help us. The opening Draw will have a 1st prize of an Audi A6 or €50,000, 2nd Prize will be a VW Polo or €15,000. There are numerous other prizes on a sliding scale for holidays and cash and of course the weekly Lotto with a prize fund of €5,000 per week.

La Na Scoil: To celebrate 125 years on Friday 24th April the three local schools all did their bit to honour the occasion.

In Kilsheelan all the children came to school on the day wearing a Club or County colour jersey. It was lovely to see the array of colours from Tipp, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny and even as far away as Kerry.

Mrs. Barron’s 3rd and 4th designed life size jerseys on the day for the future all Ireland winning teams. We had plenty of style and colour with the designs. Pink could be the new black in time! All classes did some beautiful art work. Miss O’Neill’s first and Mrs. Hearne’s second were to play a Kerry V Tipperary football game on Friday but unfortunately the weather was against us. Plans are still in place to play on our next fine day. Very serious team tactics and panel places are being discussed at break time and lunch time by both classes in anticipation of the match. 3rd to 6th classes had a GAA quiz. Mrs. Barron was our quiz master. The final results were very close and the contest between the top three teams was nail biting throughout. Well done to Paul Maher’s team who won. Mrs. Gaughran’s infants enjoyed a fashion parade of jerseys from clubs and counties. It was really a very enjoyable and informative day!

In Kilcash unfortunately it clashed with a week of school assessment. However, they did not let the side down as they put in a lot of work into Scor Na bPaisti in the last few weeks which resulted in one of its pupils namely Katy Mullins winning the County Final for the first time in the Recitation. A number of other entrants performed very well in the South Final.

Killurney school also got in on the act. Again the pupils arrived in a varied selection of jerseys which made a very colourful scene. The children also entered the spirit of the occasion and this most enthuastic bunch took part in a GAA Quiz. It was also planned to have a match against Killusty but the inclement weather put paid to this on the day but it will be played at a later date.

The Club appreciate the effort the schools put in for this special day and indeed ongoing in the promotion of our gaelic games.

19/4: Calling all Quiz enthusiasts. A Table Quiz will take place at Robinson’s Lounge on Friday 1st May at 9pm. This is in aid of our Hurler’s Training Fund. We welcome members, players and indeed all interested parties throughout the parish and beyond to come along. A fine night’s entertainment is guaranteed. The opening question will be about Club affairs – now is the time to brush up on your knowledge. Table of four just €20 – be on time or you will lose out.

La Na gClub: Anyone watching “Pride of the Parish” last Friday night which featured the Canning’s from Portumna will realise what a GAA Club means to a community. On May 10th you will get the opportunity to show Pride in your Own Parish by coming along to the GAA field for a celebration of the GAA’s 125 years. This will happen in Club’s all over the country on this day and our Sub Committee is presently busy organising a programme of events. The focus will be on a family day out with events to suit and include all ages. We will have more details next week just keep your diary free.

12/4: Our Minor Football team lost to Golden-Kilfeacle in the Final of Division 2 County League. Operating with a small panel and others failing to turn up made the task even more difficult. Well done to mentors Jason Fogarty, Niall Cloona, Michael Dempsey and Noel Ryan who are making their debut in team management.

12/4: We wish David Power as Manager and Christy Ryan as Trainer the Best of Luck in the first round of the Munster Minor Football championship against Kerry this Wednesday evening.

5/4:  In the County Adult Hurling League a very understrength team travelled to Cloneen to take on the home side. St Patrick’s were the stronger side throughout and went on to win by 1-16 to 2-4. This could easily have been a much more competitive game but it was disappointing that some of our players failed to make themselves available.

TEAM: Darren Mc Carthy, Derek Kennedy, Jimmy Ryan, Shane Columby, Tommy Ryan 1-0, Niall Walsh, Donnacha Lonergan, Peter O’Connell, Niall Cloona, John Roche 0-4, Eoin Ryan, Donnchadh Corcoran, John Noonan, William Larkin and Colm Sweeney 1-0.

SUB: Miceal Corcoran.

The combination of Kilsheelan-Kilcash Marlfield U 21 Hurling team came together for the first time and produced a great display to beat Cahir on Saturday night last. Although only having the bare fifteen players they all played their hearts out and hopefully can keep this run going. We would like to wish Bobby Quinlan a speedy recovery from his hand injury.

In the Minor Football championship we received a walkover from Carrick Davins and this weekend we are scheduled to play Golden in the Final of the Division I county League – See fixtures.

29/3:  A very much understrength Kilsheelan side travelled to Lattin to play the home side in the County Adult League and were defeated by 0-13 to 0-4.

TEAM: Dan O’Connor, Michael Ryan, Jimmy Ryan, Shane Columby, Eoin Carroll, Niall Walsh 0-1, Noel Ryan, Donnchadh Corcoran, Peter O’Connell, Eoin Ryan, Tommy Ryan 0-2, Niall Cloona, John Doolan, William Larkin 0-1 and Derek Kennedy.

Facilitators from Croke Park were present at a Club Planning meeting in the Clubhouse last Thursday night. The theme was the future development of the Club and its facilities and many good ideas were put forward in the various workshops on the night.

Congrats to Pat O’Donnell Ballyboe and Denis Lonergan Priorstown who both won €200 recently in the County Draw.

22/3: A very important Club Planning Meeting will take place at the Clubhouse on this Thursday night (26th March) at 7.30pm. All members and those interested in the future of the club are requested to attend. It will be facilitated by an outsider and will give everyone a chance to have their say in our Plans for the future. A large attendance would be appreciated.

In the County Adult Football Division 1 Semi Final at Cahir, Golden-Kilfeacle turned the tables on this occasion triumphing by a two point margin on a Kilsheelan side that defeated then last year in the Intermediate Semi Final. Kilsheelan made the better start. With John Roche and Eoin Ryan on top at midfield the attack got plenty of possession. Our best attacker was Adrian Walsh and he hit three points without reply. Golden came much more into the game but Kilsheelan maintained their lead for the remainder of the half and had further points from Niall Cloona, Adrian Walsh, Keith Robinson and Ross Larkin. At the interval they led by 0-8 to 0-5.

The second half was played at a slower pace and at the three quarter stage Kilsheelan led by 0-9 to 0-6. Their position looked even stronger when Golden had a player sent off. Kilsheelan then lost the initiative and despite Golden playing with fourteen players they upped the ante and Kilsheelan had no answer to them. Kilsheelan added only one point in the second half when Adrian Walsh pointed. With four minutes to go the sides were level at 0-9 each and extra time looked a possibility. However, Golden were not to be denied and they had two points to emerge worthy winners.

From a Kilsheelan viewpoint the first half was satisfactory but the closing fifteen minutes left a lot to be desired and major improvement will be needed as the championship draws ever closer. In defence William Larkin and Tommy Ryan played well while credit to Colm Sweeney also for keeping a clean sheet. Eoin Ryan and John Roche did well in the middle of the field. Adrian Walsh was easily our best attacker

TEAM: Colm Sweeney, Noel Ryan, William Larkin, Dan O’Connor, Peter O’Connell, Tommy Ryan, Michael Halpin, Eoin Ryan, John Roche, Niall Cloona 0-1, Adrian Walsh 0-6, Senan O’Halloran, John Noonan, Keith Robinson 0-1 and Ross Larkin 0-1.

SUBS: Jimmy Ryan, Edward Sweeney and Paul Kennedy.

15/3: On Sunday (22nd) we are doubly engaged against Golden in Cahir. The County Minor Football League Division 2 game starts at 1pm and this will be followed at 2.30pm by the Adult County League game. The Juveniles have their opening match on Saturday next in Kilsheelan when the U/12 team take on Cahir at noon.

Some 31 years ago Jim Kehoe was the inaugural winner of the Hurler of the Year Award. Last Saturday night at a South Board function in the Hotel Minella he was honoured with the Hall of Fame Award. We congratulate him on this wonderful achievement. Unfortunately Jim could not be there and his nephew John accepted the Award on his behalf.  (See www. kilsheelankilcash @tipperary.gaa.ie for a detailed account on his career).

This year the GAA celebrates its 125th anniversary and have designated Sunday May 10th as La na gClub. Every Club in the country is expected to honour this event and we are in the process of drawing up a Plan to celebrate this momentous occasion. Our intention is to get the community at large to join us at the Sportsfield on the day – more details later.

The local National Schools are not forgotten either and Friday 24th April is designated their day to celebrate the GAA also.

Membership of €50 for players, €30 for non playing members and €15 for students is now due and a reminder to players that it is a requirement, for insurance purposes that it’s paid prior to commencement of playing season.

8/3: Needing to win by nine points Ballylooby-Castlegrace never looked like achieving this target as Kilsheelan-Kilcash went on to win by 1-9 to 0-7 in Division 2 of the County Adult League at Ballyneale. Both sides exchanged points in the early stages. Most prominent in the art of scoring were rival full forwards Adrian Walsh and Jamie Coffey. Kilsheelan struck the decisive score after twenty four minutes when Adrian Walsh had the game’s only goal. A few minutes later Ballylooby had a great chance when awarded a penalty but the shot went wide and at half time the winners led by 1-3 to 0-4.

When play resumed Kilsheelan had a further three points. For the remainder of the game both sides continued to exchange points. Kilsheelan never looked like surrendering their lead and were worthy winners in the end. This result puts them through to the Semi Final of the competition.

TEAM: David Power, Dan O’Connor, Jimmy Ryan, Noel Ryan, Peter O’Connell, William Larkin, Michael Halpin, Eoin Ryan 0-1, Tommy Ryan 0-1, Niall Cloona 0-1, John Roche 0-1, Keith Robinson, John Noonan, Adrian Walsh 1-5 and Jason Fogarty.

SUBS: James Geraghty and Niall Walsh.

Once again we thank the Ballyneale Club for the use of their pitch.

Our Intermediate Hurling and Minor Football teams will see action in the County Leagues this weekend – See Fixtures for confirmation.

In a new venture the South Board Annual Awards will be presented at a function in Hotel Minella on this Saturday 14th March. We congratulate Jim Kehoe on receiving the Hall of Fame Award. There is hardly any need to give an account of Jim’s achievements during a very distinguished playing career. His contribution to his Club and County were immense and all in the parish are delighted to see him honoured in this fashion. Our Club is expected to provide a table of 10. Anyone who would like to join the celebration should contact the Secretary at 33270 not later than Friday at noon.

1/3: Our Intermediate Football team travelled to Cappawhite to play under lights on Saturday night last. To date Cappawhite had a vastly superior score difference and carried the favourites tag. Our side were very much understrength and led at half time by 0-6 to 0-4. In that first half three chances of goals went abegging which were to prove costly in the end. Late in the match the home side were awarded a penalty and this resulted in the game’s only goal. In the end we were defeated by 1-6 to 0-6.

TEAM: David Power, Noel Ryan, Jimmy Ryan, Peter O’Connell, Colm Sweeney, William Larkin, Michael Halpin, Eoin Ryan, Tommy Ryan, Niall Cloona, Keith Robinson, Ross Larkin, John Noonan and Donnchadh Corcoran.

SUB: Miceal Corcoran.

We welcome everyone along and would be delighted to see parents and those with particular interest in the Juvenile Club.

22/2: Our U/21 Football team made a none too impressive start when they lost to Knockmealdown Gaels in the “B” championship by seven points. The team have a chance to redeem themselves when they take on Fethard on this Saturday in Monroe at 2pm. Both Minor & Intermediate Football teams will also be in action this weekend – see Fixtures.

In the Carrigeen Tournament our great run came to an end when our side lost to a very strong Ballyhale-Shamrocks team. Well done to this panel of players who performed so well throughout this competition.

The Annual Table Quiz in aid of the Juvenile club takes place on Friday 6th March in Robinsons. Please note change of date. We would hope to see a good representation from parents, players and members for what is usually a night of fun. We extend our sympathy to referee Keith Delahunty and his family on the recent death of his father. Des often assisted him as umpire when he was on duty.

15/2: Having won their opening round our Intermediate Football team went in search of their second brace of points when they took on Solohead in the County Adult League at Ballyneale. Our lads dominated the opening stages but were off target. Pierce Larkin opening the scoring after thirteen minutes. After that it was mostly level pegging. Kilsheelan had points from Naoise O Cunneagain and Pierce Larkin. In the closing stages of the half Pierce Larkin had a goal while Niall Cloona added two points and Tommy Ryan added another to leave the score at the interval 1-6 to 0-3.

Within thirty seconds of the restart John Roche found the unmarked Pierce Larkin and he again found the back of the net. Tommy Ryan stole up from defence and sent over the bar. We had further points from Darren Mc Carthy and Niall Cloona to lead by 3-8 to 0-4. Solohead shot a goal and a number of points but they never looked like catching up. Kilsheelan had further points from Darren Mc Carthy, Niall Cloona and John Noonan to run out winners by 3-11 to 1-7.

Best for Kilsheelan were: William Larkin, Jimmy & Tommy Ryan in defence. In midfield Naoise O Cuinneagain and Eoin Ryan had dominant periods. In attack Niall Cloona was a real life wire. John Roche’s surging runs were very effective while Pierce Larkin’s ability to score goals proved decisive.

Team: Colm Sweeney, Jimmy Ryan, William Larkin, Noel Ryan, Paul Kennedy, Tommy Ryan 0-2, Miceal Corcoran, Naoise O Cuinneagain 0-1, Eoin Ryan, Niall Cloona 0-4, John Roche, Pierce Larkin 2-2, Darren Mc Carthy 1-1, John Noonan 0-1 and Jason Fogarty.

SUBS: Dan O’Connor, Ross Larkin and Edward Sweeney.

Thanks to the Ballyneale Club for the use of their pitch as our own was unplayable. Due to excessive rainfall and problems with springs our pitch cannot be used for the next few weeks.

Our next match is away to Cappawhite on the weekend of 28th Feb/1st March. A win here would put us through to the Final.

Our Minor Football League match against Galtee Rovers was cancelled and will be played at a later date.

The Annual Table Quiz in aid of the Juvenile Club will take place on Friday (6th March) in Robinson’s Lounge starting at 9.15pm sharp.
